I am certain this player will be a success. Only question is settling into the lifestyle and feeling at home, after all it's the first time he has ever left his family and friends back in Rome. The other decider is adjusting to the pace of the premiership and getting back on his feet after a tough challenge.

If he can do those things, and do them quickly, we could yet have a crack at the title this season. Because the quality of the player has never been in doubt in my eyes. Wit until the Kop see him smashing in shots from thirty yards - with either foot - I'm sure they'll have themselves a new hero.

Well Alonso's settled back to his 'old form' at Real Madrid, which was average. At least we got one good season out of him. Onwards and upwards. Aquilani already looks much better at 60%, can't wait for the rest. Let's hope he's eased in, will need him for years to come.

He's a great player who is no longer here. Missed greatly due to us losing four league games. But If Aquilani comes in and does well I doubt people will care so much for Alonso.

tell you one thing is for certain.....when he starts playing regularly and looks awesome controlling the midfield, scoring goals and making our midfield tick i bet the pundits dont come out and say benitez was right!!!!

They will always have the argument that him missing for the first months cost us the title. We need to win the league to prove Rafa right.
