I would rather these two not be in charge, but they are, and this is a prudent decision that will be benificial to the club in the long term, and like it or not, i reckon these two will be here for a while, much like the Glaziers will be.
Was thinking the same, surely it would be reckless to start the thing now, if it is even possible to get funding for it. Doubt that many clubs are starting their project now. I loathe the pair of them but can't fault them this particular decision.

none of us know what was behind the decision.

it could have been the extra cash, it could have been racist. nobody knows. he did treat DIC shabbily and if it was just greed that caused his u-turn, what's wrong with 'sorry gents but i've been contacted and recieved a better offer'. then if it was racist, why entertain DIC at all?

moores and parry both amateurs and moores is the reason our club - and the mancs - are where we are now. his dad was spot on. what a fool david moores is.

Bit of a difference between Corinthians and LFC, the money to be made here far outweighs the money to be gained there, and in order to maximise revenue, the two yanks know that they will need their stadium. A stadium here, with naming rights and other sponsership, will basically pay for itself. A stadium built over in South America...well i just can't see it being self-substaining like it would be here.

Personally I don't buy the 'greed' part, because Moores always seemed to have the clubs interests at heart and not his own throughout his tenure as owner. Something swayed him at the last minute away from DIC and personally I don't think it was the extra dollars.

An unashamed Liverpool fan, Parry was recruited from his position as a senior management consultant with leading UK firm Ernst & Young in 1991 to assist in planning the new Premier League. Appointed Chief Executive in February 1992, the competition was officially ratified just seven days later by The Football Association, allowing Parry to proceed with negotiations for a television deal which was eventually awarded to BSkyB and the BBC for a then record bid of £214 million over five years.

As Chief Executive, Parry oversaw the development of The Premier League into one of the top professional football competitions in the world, with major investment in new stadia, increased attendances and an influx of major international stars. During his last twelve months at Lancaster Gate he brokered the biggest ever television deal in the history of UK sport, with BSkyB and the BBC offering a package in excess of £700m for Premier League broadcasting rights.

Parry's experience is not confined solely to football, having prepared Manchester's bid for the 1992 Olympic Games in 1985 and later advised the Birmingham Olympic Games Council on financial matters. In the following year, he spent six months on a major assignment for The Football League before assuming the role of Chief Executive to the Manchester Phoenix Initiative, a major urban regeneration project which culminated in the establishment of the Central Manchester Development Corporation.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I think it's more to do with the fact that if they had used their own money to buy the club and borrowed the money for a stadium we would be in the same level of debt now but would at least have something to show for it!

With the debts we have at present borrowing more money isn't an option, this story is just another reminder of how badly the club is run
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I would write to agree with this but no doubt some muppet will come on here and challenge it all and say how great the Yanks have been and how none of it is their fault. The BBC news article shows the full extent of their lies and that's just the tip of the iceberg. I shudder to think where we'd be with ****ing Jurgen Klinsmann in charge.

What saddens me is that this summers transfer window is only the start and the same situation looks set to continue for the best part of twenty years or more. A new stadium by 2018 if we're lucky and the time to pay it all off. It would be great for some young reserve to come in and do a job, but if they did they'd want a pay rise and once again we'd have no funds for the transfer window!

I can almost guarantee that in future it will be another Alonso situation. Sell a top player to bring in a couple of players and keep the squad fresh, instead of selling off the ****e and replacing it with much better.

Oh, and I can imagine that when Mascherano is flogged for £40m nex year, Rafa will get £30m to spend. Then when we get of to a bad start people will be saying, "Rafa has had £30m to spend and he's made us worse than we were. Plus he let go of the all time greatest on a par with pele genius that is Mascherano".

                            My concern
                            • We do not qualify for the CL next season.
                            • Citeh do.
                            • Citeh attract some knew players because of this and have the money to complete the deals.
                            • We are in the UEFA Cup and do not attract players because of this, and do not have the money to purchase them anyway.
                            • Citeh, with their CL experience and new players cement their top 4 position and again finish in the top 4.
                            • We fail to qualify again.
                            • With limited funds and no CL football, our best players see no light at the end of the tunnel and become unhappy at LFC, seeking moves away from the club.

                            Not a great impossibility.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

This saga reminds of that story we used to read at school, 'The Emperors new clothes'. There is no delay because they do not intend to build a new stadium.

Look at the positives, we won't need a new ground when that happens.
