Liverpool v Debrecen - Post Match Thread

Terrible performance by all, but a wins a win.

A few nervy moments, but that happens when you don't get the second goal.

3 points is all that matters regardless of how bad or how well we play

        Complete ****e!

        Ah well, a win's win.

Babel had a couple of really crap moments but on the whole I felt he made his presence felt, which was a small plus.

Dross all-round on the whole, but I felt we won without extending ourselves remotely...which bodes well for a full-tilt effort at West Ham.

We should have won comfortably, but a win's a win
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Incredibly dull game. We did just about enough to win. Lack of cutting edge up front a bit worrying at times. Too many players taking the wrong option and set pieces even more woeful than usual.

Also Kuyt should not be playing behind Torres when we have Yossi or Gerrard who are much better in that role. Our link up play suffered because of this.

Riera was probably our best player IMO.

We took too many short corners, almost everytime we lost possession without creating anything but kept doing it. Most of the time the player receiving the ball looked as though he didn't know what to do with it!

Have to say, Torres continues to look sluggish, but also continues to get no service. Big worry, maybe have to see if he can get going away to West Ham.

Babel looked good on the attack when he came on, but there was a moment at the end where he gave it away that had Rafa throwing his arms in the air! Put Lucas under pressure with an aimless pass.

We'll have to do a lot better if we want to win any competitions this year, but lesser opposition can drag you down to their level.

True. There was a couple of especially frustrating instances in the first half when Insua dawdled in posession of the ball at a short corner when he could have whipped it in. I must say I've never been a fan of short corners. You don't bring forward your centre half for a corner just so you can fanny about with intricate passing movements around the corner flag before the ball dribbles out of play for a goal kick.

Job done. Couldnt really care about how we played, you dont need to be anything special to get through and it shows in the performances. The only time we'll perform in this group is if we get in trouble. Other than that we'll just coast along.

For other teams they'd be like that for half an hour or 45mins or whatever but once they get a goal in these types of games they tend to get a few. For us we seem to struggle as much getting the 2nd as we do the first.

Actually what frustrated me most was when 2 or 3 of our players were close to the ball, and all seemed to want to leave possession to the other!

Also our final pass was very poor. Too many over hit passes, whilst when in the box we tried to be a bit too clever, Yossi in particular got in some great positions but seemed to want to dance around one more player than needed.
