A win is a Win a few positives I'm not going to dwell on the negatives
3 points , clean sheet, Babel good cameo ( from the right to which he should have more oppertunities IMO), Reira best player ,Johnson good , Benni reminded me of Beardsley when he dribbled past loads of them , he should have been playing off Torres though, and last but not least Torres should improve on performances so far

POst match interview with Kuyt and Carra

Interviewer asked Kuyt if he liked playing in the Gerrard role behind Torres. He said it was OK and he also plays on the right a lot as well. Then added in the next match he could be playing in a completely different position but that was up to the manager and him and Carra just burst into laughter

Really would that be before or after he got the ball for the 3rd and final time in the match

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

They burst out laughing because Dirk said "I might be in the hole, on the right...or....", when Carra interjected "...on the bench?"

I think on this performance, Insua can become a very good player but really needs to improve his final delivery. He and Riera worked some really good positions and all to often the final ball was lacking.
                    Forwards.......

I note ITV's wonderful punditry panel are suggesting Gerrard needs to play further forward - in the hole - against weaker teams so he can hurt the opposition and he doesn't have "to babysit Lucas."

                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

It was more like Lucas cleaning up for Gerrard

That's how I saw it too.

I paid a lot of attention to Lucas and although you get a much better view of these things if you're actually there, it looked to me like he did pretty well. I liked the way he won a few free kicks - reminded me of Hamann.

Yes, a win is a win, but so many questions to be asked about the way we play football.

Pass and move was our groove, but now it is pass and stand still. On the one occasion we did pass and move we created a clear opening.

Just really want us to play good football on a consistent basis and the results will come.

Positives - err.... Gerrard looked like a CM. Johnson again showed his attacking capabilities.

Negatives - our style of football. Too static and too one dimensional. Dare I say it but almost Houllieresque.

                                Knee jerk rant over.
"Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley
