I would like it to be noted that I am doing my part for the new initiative that was discussed in the Chat section - Espousing ****e by SWiping Uthers Material - ESTS WUM for short.

I don't think ITV know what they are going on about. I don't think either cleaned up for the other as they didn't need to. I think there was one cross field pass by Gerrard that put Lucas in trouble, other than that I think they were pretty bog standard.

Positive from what I saw was that Riera seemed to try a bit and take the ball forward a lot. Beside 1 episode our defence looked solid, but they where hardly challenged.

It just seemed more like you were making it out to be an utterly outrageous suggestion to try and score one over Fredo. I wouldn't leave Torres out personally, but I can see the logic behind it, as he is certainly not in form.
It's an utterly ridiculous idea whoever posts it.

An out of form Torres is still infinitely better than N'Gog.

The point is though whether leaving Torres out for a game might allow us to have an in form Torres for more games. It isn't just a question of beating West Ham but what is good long term surely?

I happen to think we should play Torres as it looks more of an off form/lack of enthusiasm and I don't see a week off really altering that. I think we need to play better and put together a run of good results. That said I can see the case for feeling that as he has played an awful lot of football in the last year a break could be an answer. I just think that while he is providing goals and assists even when not playing well we are probably best off hoping that getting into the groove brings the old Nando back.

I see the point mate, but let's do it at home to Hull, rather than away to WHU.

He'll probably not feature against Leeds, so no point in resting him for a vital league game.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Exactly. It's by no means an "utterly ridiculous idea". But I don't agree we should do it either.

It's ridiculous reece. We've got Leeds away and Hull at home where he can be rested.

WHU away is far more important than Leeds away, and more difficult than Hull at home.

In fact, it's an absurd idea. Ridiculous doesnt do it justice.

You don't leave Torres out ever unless he is carrying a muscle niggle that could be made a lot worse - you play him, get 2 or 3 goals up (ideally) then take him straight off

You wonder you why rub people up the wrong way sometimes? Basically because you don't agree with something it's absolutely absurd and therefore only people who have the same opinion as you are talking sense.

This is why I long stopped bothering getting involved in football conversations with you.

I feel it's not ridiculous because part of reason for his lack of form could be down to tiredness, therefore the notion of resting him for a game is not at all ridiculous or absurd. As I have previously said I wouldn't personally do so for the West Ham game as like Dave said I feel he needs to play to regain his form. But it's not as black and white as you make it out to be.

Nah...he's still notched 3 in 6 this season when way below par. He's got to play himself back into form IMO.
Exactly right. It's a very sad state of affairs when we don't have at least one player that can step into his shoes. Frustrating or what.
