I thought we were a class above that. We need minor improvements not buying a suite of superstars. I would hate to have the "you paid for the league" labelled at us. I hope if this does happen we make 1/2 good signings and build a stadium. I absolutely do not want to be another Man C, Chelski or Real Madrid.

It is clear what we need to make that final step from nearly winning the league to winning and dominating. Money.
I don't want to waste the generation of players we have right now, the likes of Gerrard, Carra, Torres, Pepe, Kuyt etc. We are so close and only a couple of genuine world class players would make that final step forward for us.
It is a romantic notion to think we can take some kind of moral highground and win without huge riches, but the reality is different."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

To me the point is there is no way of regaining the moral high ground with our current owners or any realistic prospects to replace them. It's simply how far the Club sinks and what the payback is.Originally posted by saveferris View PostYeah it is a weak one, and not one I would use, however as this forum itself shows, fans will pick on anything if they dont like someone, be it their background or choice of ties
there will be no winning.
Lerner is the exception to the rule and whilst he may not have the financial clout that more importantly Hicks and Gillett want it is his mentality that we want and would benefit from as a club.
Whilst people pick on Moores, for who he sold the club to, he did try to act in an honourable way when in charge, same could be said for Parry.
I agree, under Moores and Parry we weren't half as deep in the moral slime but we had next to no money. Then again I don't see us spending a lot more under Hicks and Gillett - let's hope the Standard Chartered deal signals lasting progress on that score to balance out the fact the Club has been bought with its own money by a couple of chancers..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

From my 45 years of going to watch Liverpool I have to say that we ceased to be a merely local "brand" by the early 70s and were already huge nationally and since around 1980 or a year or two either way we had become a global "brand", so it's too late to start worrying about that nowOriginally posted by joyno View Posti know its the way our beautiful game has gone and i have to embrace the idea that we will be able to compete with the best, but a feeling of trepidation maybe because of a nostalgic love for this club stops me getting excited,
the eventual loss of anfield and the club becoming a global brand rather than a local one disturbs me greatly, but then again if we can sign villa and the likes of silva and have more money than the scum then **** it, bring it on.

You win the booby prize for using the American term "period" instead of the British term "full stop" for the same punctuation mark - unless you are an American of course, in which case I take it backOriginally posted by Nicey View PostThe Saudis own everything Period ... whilst the whole world was going down the pan recently The Saudies were buying up everything they could get there hands on with Oil Profits simple to large to comprehend I believe OPEC recorded something like over 1 Trillion Dollars Profit in 2008 alone ... thats 1 Trillion .. the Saudis put Both City and Chavski to shame when it comes to financial muscle

I'm not a follower of the club for that long by any stretch, but you speak sense.Forwards.......

My source has confirmed what your source may or not be referring to, but would like to add the possibility that something else is going to occur, this other occurance will be hugely significant somewhere near the field of organised sport either in the Far East or near the Tropic of Capricorn.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostMy source tells me something may happen this week. Now I'm not sure if it will have anything to do with the club, but something WILL happen, SOMEWHERE, THIS WEEK.
Watch this space.
And when this happens, OMG, a man will arrive in Lancashire with an envelope, and you will all know that something big is about to happen.

In modern times every winner of the league can be said to have 'bought the league'.
If we had the resources to buy all the players Rafa was linked with/wanted; then would we have not bought the league?

I wasn't aware that we already had ArabsOriginally posted by Scratch View PostOr due to undervaluation by the buyer...it'd be nice if a compromise could be reached tho.
Hell, maybe a deal has been agreed in principle, but they won't announce it until the Saudi's have done their due diligence work...i know, i can dream...
Anyway, are these Arabs neccesarily going to be better than what we already have?

My only comment with regards to politics.
No one in the history of the world has got rich by being a nice guy. Only lotto winners and those handed fortunes by their parents can make any kind of excuse. Even then some muppet could mope on about whether they deserved the cash and whether the cash handed down had come from reputable sources.
On a personal level none of us know G+H or Prince Faisal. We can only comment on whether what they would bring to the club is worth our while. I want G+H out due to the constant lies, nothing else effects those thoughts. With regards to Prince Faisal I don't know enough about him and his intentions for the club to comment on if I would support him or not.Forwards.......

My source claims that G+H WILL sell the club. But states he can not put a timescale on it. He previously gave me other gems such as Moores will sell the club eventually. He was ****ing right as well!!Originally posted by JohnnyBarnesdribblesOn View PostMy source has confirmed what your source may or not be referring to, but would like to add the possibility that something else is going to occur, this other occurance will be hugely significant somewhere near the field of organised sport either in the Far East or near the Tropic of Capricorn.
