Have you ever thought of chilling out over what people say?
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I think your analysis of the situation is overly simplistic. The point of the interview is that losing his place in the Dutch squad has been the catalyst for Babel and motivated him to start addressing his issues.

Holland play internationals every year- not just when there is a world cup on.

If you had bothered digesting my full reply, you would see that I also say it is quite possible that this example shows him what is needed to make it at the top level, and that if he gets there he may stick at it.

There are two places he can go. Continue improving or rest on his laurels. It's sad to say that so many people have already given up on him, despite him already starting to prove some people wrong who said he was ****e and would never cut it.

hmmmm so we gave Owen **** for putting England first, but its ok for Babel?

I do give a **** that it took being dropped by Holland to realise how **** he has been for us and even then he is saying he is doing it to get back in the Holland team not for Liverpool. Ok granted he is talking about the Holland team and not Liverpool but still not his finest hour imo

I didn't give a **** what motivated Owen. I can't see how people complain that to most players competing and playing for your country in the world cup is the finest hour in their career. It doesn't get any bigger than that in football, it is the absoloute pinnacle despite what many a hardcore club fan will say.

Difference with Owen was that he applied himself on a regular basis to the best of his ability. Babel hasn't done that on the evidence I've seen.

But my argument is that being dropped could save his career at Anfield as it could show him what he does need to do to earn a place in a top level team. He knows that if he leaves Liverpool the only way is down. He obviously wants to make it here but got frustrated at his lack of chances. If he learns what he needs to do to earn a place I think he will keep at that level of effort.

I just think before he didn't realise what he needed to do.

Yep, i thought the same thing, i mean wtf, your at LFC ffs, if you need motivation to be your best then look the **** around you laddie, Gerrard, Torres, Carra, etc etc, prize examples of what it takes to be the best, and what's needed to stay there.

I just can't understand why it would take being dropped by Holland to make him sit up and take note, he's as good as admitting that he wasn't doing all he could to prove to Rafa he was worth a place or run in the team, it took Holland to do that, and yes while we might well reap the rewards of him now 'reeeeeally' trying his best, i'm more than a bit dissappointed in him.

It's high time he 'gave a ****' about Liverpool fc imo, or at least more than he has.

I'm not sure whether it is stupidity or arrogance/over confidence but until recently it appeared that Babel thought he was bound to make it on ability alone and hence didn't put in an extra effort - even when most people thought it was clear that was one of the things he needed to do a/ to give himself the best chance of doing well and b/ to convince Rafa to play him.

Sometimes people think they are giving their all and only a shock can make them see that they are not.

I'm with danny on this one - it doesn't matter what made Babel motivated to change it is about whether or not he maintains the improvement in attitude. To criticise him for these comments is to prejudge which way that will go and to my mind unfair.

His motivation is all to do with Holland and the world cup.

I'm perfectly chilled out. Perhaps you should ignore me until your interpretation skills are upto scratch, because until then, you'll continue to post things towards me that are designed to incite and provoke a reaction.

OK, Craig. It's just me that thinks you can be a real pain in the arse sometimes.

I think you're a pain in the arse too, that's by the by.

But you seem to go around thinking you know whether i'm 'chilled' or whether i'm in a mood, or whatever else it may be.

Accept that you dont, and we'll all get on well.
