Yaya's nailed on for Man City

This Mascherano saga is like the Ronaldo circus last year when Madrid were crawling up his ass.

**** it, if his head's been turned by Barca then sell him, I'd snatch Noble from West Ham to replace him.

Well I for one was worried he would not have the maturity to deal with big clubs coming for him and not getting his move and my worst fears have been realised. This is were he differs a great deal to Xabi, Alonso is a man he understood he had a job to do and got on with it, Masher at times still looks very much like a boy trying to be the man ..

He needs to wise up and up his game ... he also needs to stop shooting from the ****ing carpark, break the play up and distribute the ball please

At this rate we'll have the heart of our ****ing team ripped out. Masher & Xabi were the stability on which our other players depended to perform. THey haelpd us control the game so well. FFS.
        3rd place. Worst champions ever.

          Jesus, over-reacting much chaps?

Loving the way we'll slate the press for printing nonsense most of the time, but take it as gospel in order to utterly condemn one of our own players, who aside from his recent performances, has been nothing short of brilliant. In fact, when did Masher stop being the best in the world at his position? A term that has been lauded on here many times

Maybe his head HAS been turned by one of the most decorated, successful, best loved teams in the world who are arguably, the worlds best team in general, playing the type of football most fans clamour for from their own. Surely that doesn't mean he deserves some of the **** that some on here are spouting though? Buck toothed cunt being a particular favourite of mine

He's captain of his national team, and when that team is Argen****ingtina, and they're playing as terrible as they are, then thats bound to have an effect

This might be a totally weird suggestion, but how's about we give him a chance to regain the form we know he's capable of before deciding that he's the devil and should be sold pronto?

Hyperbole - its where all the cool kids are at

maybe the rest of the article is as big a load of crap as this bit:

"Mascherano feels his status as one of the club’s top earners should be rewarded with an improvement on his current £60,000-a-week wages."

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has told the club he is not interested in a new contact, fuelling suggestions that he may be on his way out when his current deal expires in the summer.

Speaking to News of the World, he denied any suggestions of requesting fresh terms: "This is not true. I have never asked for a new contract. I already have a contract with Liverpool."

The tenacious midfield enforcer also knocked back claims that he was fishing for an improved deal, insisting he does not "play for money" and that he is focused on the thrill of winning and personal satisfaction.

He said: "I don't play for the money. I play for me and to win things. Money is not important to me. Obviously I will not play for free but why should I?"

Mascherano's latest statements are sure to raise doubts over his long-term future at the club, which has been in question since the player affirmed his desire to play in Spain in the wake of Barcelona's reported interest in his services.

                Mascher Interview...

JAVIER MASCHERANO has further rocked the listing Anfi eld boat this morning by snubbing a new contract.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, already on the ropes after four straight defeats, has always believed the Argentine midfielder would join his golden list of long-term stars.

Skipper Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina, Dirk Kuyt, Daniel Agger and Yossi Benayoun were all secured on bumper summer deals. Mascherano, 25, is strongly linked with Barcelona. And that is a real worry for Benitez, as he hoped that his South American playmaker would be another one to commit his long-term future to the Anfield cause.

But Mascherano has no wish to join the elite list, a huge blow to Benitez hours before facing Man United today.

Benitez is willing to shower Mascherano with riches in line with Liverpool’s other superstars. Mascherano, currently on around £60,000 a week, will be guaranteed a £30,000-a-week increase if he signs a new deal.

But Mascherano says the cash is of no interest to him, leaving Benitez and the fans deeply concerned that the Argentinian could be the next big name exiting Anfi eld, following Xabi Alonso’s departure to Real Madrid.

Asked about possible talks over a new deal, Mascherano said: “I have never asked for a new contract.

“I already have a contract with Liverpool. I don’t play football for the money. I play for me to win. Obviously I will not play for free. But at this moment the money is not the most important thing for me. I have talked with Rafa over the summer but nothing has happened.

“I’m here. I play for Liverpool and I will try to give my best.

“I am a professional and I have to think about Liverpool.” Mascherano’s stance casts further doubts over his future at Anfield but he is still keen to silence talk about a move to Barcelona.

He added: “I don’t want to talk any more about Barcelona. I try to give my best to Liverpool.

“Sometimes you have good form. Sometimes you are not in good form. But I will continue working to do my best.

“I am very relaxed about my situation because I know I go to training every day and give my best for the club.”

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Although I do think he is gone in the summer, I also can't see how all the headlines were taken from that. Gerrard and Torres to go without CL qualifacion according to one paper. Rafa gone at 3.45 if we don't win today.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

As long as we get top whack for him, I would be comfortable to sell him at this stage as long as there is a replacement lined up. He is a great destroyer, but his game is limited. I think we could come out of this one without being weakened and with a profit if we get the right player in.

If we do sell him, particularly to Barca I'd try and get Yaya Toure as part of the deal. I'm a big fan of his.

So in short he wasn't offered an new contract but has somehow managed to "snub" a new contract.

                          More journalistic sensationalism.

michael essien is the best possible replacement for mascherano. he'd actually be an improvement. but sadly that won't happen.

how many years does mascherano have left? argentine captain... £35 million?
