can't be arsed with internationals and even tho born & bred in england don't feel patriotic in the slightest, the way I see it if you can choose your club team you can just as easily choose your international team, if not, all the Welsh, Irish, Scottish, Finnish, Danish etc. supporters should support their local teams and not "ours", not trying to cause controversy or an argument, just the way I feel, probably stems from growing up in Kensington (L6) in the 80's where my future looked like the dole and if I was really lucky I wouldn't be a smackhead, I felt like thatcher was attempting genocide on Liverpool (& other cities / towns including the mining towns), this has resulted in me bordering on disliking england, especially the england football team

ha ha. i probably will too.Originally posted by Red_hot View PostSnap. Except if we get through to quarters/semi/final in which case I will jump on the England bandwagon in an excuse to get very drunk and jump up and down alot.
the way i have always seen it is that liverpol fans expect glory with our beloved club side. as do scum, chavs and arse. we dont need to cling to some stupid conglomeration of players that represent an association of ****s selling their political souls every day of their lives. if you look around the stadium when england are playing you see a lot of milwall, luton, chesterfield, everton, sunderland etc flags. basically, every fan of a small team who knows they havent got a chance of their team winning a major trophy supports their national side cos it is the closest they will get.
i must be honest and say that i am getting a little bit more interested these days but i dont know if that is because capello isnt a spineless bitch like the last few managers and is whipping them into shape or if it is just because there is a wolrd cup around the corner and the wife wont mind as much if i am drunk for the games if i have shown some interest in the qualifiers.in january we were doomed.
in august we will rise from the ashes of ****e and march on again

I'm a massive fan of both Liverpool and England. Don't go to enough games to consider myself a supporter, though of course I would love too. Job requirements and lack of money keep me as an armchair fan.
With regards to Liverpool, every game counts for me. If they are I will watch them, and will even watch the game later on LFCtv, even if I know the result. A win or a defeat can greatly effect my thoughts and mood too, sad as that sounds!
With England, I will also watch every game I can, but if I miss it I'm not that bothered unless it is a game of real importance. When it comes to international football it is the high stakes games that gets me up for it.
However, what I really love about England is the major international tournaments, when it seems the whole country is willing them on. Obviously that is not the case by reading this thread (lol) but it really gets the pulse racing. I think back to when England won the Rugby world cup, or when England won the Ashes. Fantastic times. But all of that would pale in comparison to England winning the world cup.
I think England have lost plenty of fans due to being rubbish in the past, but a winning team would have them coming back in droves.
In fact, to show how much a fan of England I am, I will tell you that only Liverpool winning the premiership would mean more for me than England winning the world cup - and it's a close run thing. And had we won the league last season the world cup would have been number one in my eyes.
I don't think those thoughts make me any less of a Liverpool fan, more just goes to show that I am a massive fan of the England football team.
Like Kev, I was in the Army - so maybe that has something to do with it
but I think also for me a lot of it will come down to not actually being from Liverpool. I've got plenty of good mates who are Liverpool fans, but the best nights in the past for me have been when I've been out with all my best mates and some of me family and it's been a big England game. Though that could also be down to me being unlucky and having work the next day when Liverpool have had a really big game........
Forwards.......

I don't think 'em being rubbish is the issue. It's them being quality but playing rubbish when it actually matters.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI think England have lost plenty of fans due to being rubbish in the past, but a winning team would have them coming back in droves.
No bottle.
That's what pisses me off.

i'd be surprised if anyone on here would take country before club"I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. Today I will begin walking the road to hell. But you will choose your own path. So, soon you may be seeing heaven. Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

Seriously.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
