Extra balls on the fi eld of play
If an extra ball enters the fi eld of play during the match, the referee must stop
the match only if it interferes with play. Play must be restarted by a dropped
ball in the position where the match ball was at the time when the match
was stopped, unless play was stopped inside the goal area, in which case the
referee drops the ball on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the point
nearest to where the ball was located when play was stopped.
If an extra ball enters the fi eld of play during the match without interfering
with play, the referee must have it removed at the earliest possible opportunity.
If it was a beach 'ball' then it was an extra 'ball' and it was clearly interfering with play the goal shouldn't have been allowed and then should have a dropped ball on the edge of the goal area.
I thought referees were also were always creaming themselves for chance to flaunt their knowledge of the rules of the game. What happened here?
I would hazard a guess that an 'extra ball' means an extra 'football'.
The BBC keep saying it was a balloon and keep not saying what the actual rule is!
We Sooooooo need to come out 2nd half looking and performing like a different team..... Brasil in their pomp hopefully, but i'd take these players just playing well for now!!

**** me! It was a BALLOON, Talk about clutching at straws. As pointed out the two teams on the field cost around the same so why is it a given right that we win?? This is what happens when you rely to much on a "well oiled machine", When one part breaks its useless. Even if we win today, the football lately is woefull, the players are not up to scratch.
Carra has looked iffy.
Aurelio set piece delivery has been poor but has been a threat going forward.
Johnson has been our only decent player.
Spearing is having a mare.
Lucas likewise and bugs me how he always chipping away at the ref after he gets fouled.
Bennayoun has shown glimpses but generally been anonoumous.
Babel has been poor but i don't understand the decision to play him on the left when he has shown decent form reccently playing on the right and up front.
Kuyt should never lead the line as a lone striker.
Why Masch was dropped from the oringinal xi is baffling from this first half performance.
We are more likely to concede then we are to score.
