over the last few seasons we have had one of the best defences in the premiership that does not make you **** at set pieces....its just a ****ty stick to beat rafa and the zonal marking system, honestly it seems as if Rafa invented it, is the only one that uses it ....and its never been a succes anywhere!!

miles better!!! many of them players were at the end of any decent times for us.....

Our first 11 is a million times better than that lot.

Can't agree with that. Murphy would, as would Henchoz. JAR in 2004 was better than the options we have now. Kewell (granted, when fit) was better than Riera or babel. Our striking options other than Owen/Torres were much better then.

JAR's last decent season was 2004 i think.

Kewell i would give you but he was never fit for us, so is not really an option

well out of that whole lot .........i would say only Pongolle is good enough anyway the rest are differing levels of ****e.

I wouldn't sack Rafa. We're not going to move forward as a club until we see the backs of G&H and have an owner who can provide some decent transfer funds to the manager. Until then, even if we sack Rafa, who's going to come in, knowing that they will inherit a squad that is woefully short of depth, will have to work for two useless mother****ers named Gillett and Hicks, and won't have any money to strengthen the inadequate squad that they will have inherited?

I see merits to some of the arguments that people make about Rafa needing to be replaced, but that's neither here nor there as long as all the club's profits are going towards G&H's interest payments.

You're misunderstanding me. Our defense, before this season, was very good. It doesnt help us that carragher and skrtel have both decided to play really special this season. But when was the last time you actually felt confident of a goal when we took a corner? Or that you werent nervous when a corner was coming in. Our defenders arent that good in the air. Hyppia was the best at that. I'd like Benitez to play Kyriagos or however its spelt more often. He might not be fast, but I think paired with Agger they'd be very good at defending set pieces. I'm really hoping Carragher gets dropped so he can snap out of whatever rut he's in because its not helping the team.

on the defense....maybe its the fact we have 2 attacking full backs now? whereas we had 4 defenders that defended and not a lot else? or maybe they are suffering because instead of having Alonso who tackled for fun we have Lucas who is powderpuff?

i wouldnt object to seeing a greek/agger defence but carragher/agger is my preference and see Jamie play out of his slump in form.

its weird that i think our corners are dreadful yet we have scored more than any other team...just imagine if we managed more than 1 in 5 that beat the first man!!

ps your right i **** bricks everytime the oppo win a corner, Houiller might have been ****e but he built a team of big brutes for sure....we used to tower over every team

the set piece thing is a non debate. We are **** at making the best of corners and are also equally **** defending them.

yet being good at both defending and attacking set pieces has been a trait of all decent teams to win the premiership. We seem to ignore this fact.
