I think this article has been cobbled together by some hack personally to get precisely the reaction in this thread. Its actually an awful article, with lots of one liner quotes.

As for going on at Owen, i thought the hand rubbing celebration after he scored against Newcastle is a mickey take of one of Carragher's mates who really wanted to meet Michael Owen but when he got the chance at a nightclub he couldnt say anything and all he did was rub his hands together. It might even be in Owen or Carra's autobiography.

The article has stuck a one-liner in here (in bold as well in the first post) to get a reaction and people have fallen for it. Owen's quotes never mention LFC at all, there is some comment about concentrating on what good was done at a former club but nowhere else does he even mention or put us down. Just because its not written it doesnt mean it wasn't said (it has been assumed).

In my view Owen's actions have spoken louder than his words, but i am not agressively against the guy. Its just clear that there only has to be a hint of implied criticism from Owen for us to jump on his back.

I have done. But I stand by what I said. The headlines do not match with his comments.

It is well knwon in the summer that Owen was desperate to return to Liverpool and that we were his first option above all others. Hardly a sign that he holds no affinity for the club. He's obvioulsy not a fan boy but I'm sure we are the club that is closest to his heart out of Real, Newcastle and LFC.

Having said that, Owen has always been in it for himself and as such never got a close bond with the Kop - something I would guarantee still bothers him to this day. Just a shame he never realised why Fowler and the likes of Torres are Kop idols, whilst he never really was - despite having done so much for the club.

I said all summer we should have signed Owen and i stand by that now. Even his biggest critics are now probably thinking we could have done with someone of his calibre on the books to suport Torres off the bench and the odd start. But that's for the past and is no longer an option.

Right this minute I couldn't give two ****s about Owen, and it wouldn't bother me (other than for whilst the celebrations were ongoing) if he celebrated against us if he scored - the only thing that would bother me is that a Man Utd player had scored against us.

The footballers that love the club are few and far between.

If it were Silva what happened to the money? Coming towards the end of the transfer window (after signing Johnson and Aquilani) we only had £1.5m left to sign a defender
