I'm not really singling him out for the team are playing rubbish but its games like last night when you have the likes of Gerrard and Torres out that you need your other attacking players to create things and make things happen, and clearly he cant do that and he is a first team player the likes of Ngog has at least got an excuse.

I don't think it is pathetic to single him out. He was the worst player on the pitch as far as I could see. A couple of promising moves broke down because he couldn't control the ball. That's just inexcusable for me. Too many times we have a fast break and when it comes to Dirk he stops for a couple of seconds to control it and the impetus is lost. He works hard but then so would I!!

He played above himself last season and anyone can look good in a winning side. He is not someone who can turn a game on it's head. He's a useful squad player IMO.

        Amazingly that's true
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

So his ten plus goals and assists did not turn games last season in our favour because anyone could look good in a winning side. Yet reverse logic would mean anyone could look bad in a losing side. With three goals and three assists already in the league, he is clearly one of our more influential players this season.

I'll hold my hands up and admit that I am staunch advocate of Kuyt's and by all account he did not have his best game; however, when not playing to his optimum he still gives his all and doesn't give up. Indeed, barring a very smart save from their keeper he could have put the game beyond doubt.

If all players adopted the same attitude we may not be in such precarious position and fickle fans would not attribute our poor recent form on a player who has been instrumental in our best ever Premier League finish and who has made a greater contribution this season than most players in the current squad.

Its games like last night when your senior players like Kuyt should lead by example and he didn't but then he wasn't the only one.

When Torres and Gerrard are being man-marked, like they were at Chelsea, Kuyt and Riera need to step up and use the space that is being freed up for them. Kuyt is great when we are winning but painfully ineffective against bigger teams in tight games. You can give me all the stats you want, but I prefer to comment on what I see.
