Rafa's insistence in playing with a lone striker is holding us back. I'm not saying that it doesn't work on the pitch because with Gerrard playing behind him and a fully fit 11 we can beat anyone, but we'll never be able to attract another top striker to sit on the bench.
When he's injured we're left with young inexperienced potential, or 2nd class experience.
If we brought someone in of the quality of Eto/Villa to play alongside Torres, Gerrard could still play a more forward role (though not as free running as he is now) as a quality partner would help pin the opposition back a yard or two.
But then where would that leave Aquilani fit in?
