Fit again and in his preferred position, i think his class and quality in breaking up play, reading play and bringing the ball out of defense and distributing intelligently makes us a superior side.
Long may he remain fit as he adds something to the team.
As far as Yossi is concerned, for me he was MOM. He constantly beat his man, tracked back and once again has proved that he is far better then people ever gave him credit for. He is a vital starting 11 player.
just wish the media could see their class, same with Fabio (when fit!)

Agger is quality and he forms a good partnership with Carra. Alas I think we'll have to get used to having him missing a lot. Similar to Woodgate and King.
Benni is a strange one. Very talented and worthy of a first team place without doubt. But his reluctance to shoot and to try and beat the man over and over especially inside the area is a pain in the arse (Kuyt also take note). Also he trys to do too much and loses out like when he was ****ing around in the middle of the pitch and the ball was stolen which led to a breakaway which could have cost us dear.
When or if we have everyone fit, its one from Kuyt or Benni for me. There ain't room for noth of them. Benni is head and shoulders the better player footballing wise yet Kuyt does offer the courage of a lion.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

What we do need is a better fourth choice CB. I might be being harsh having only seen kyrgiakos a few times, but if Agger gets injured as he will do every so often and skrtel acts as cover, the greek fella does not seem as strong as the other choices of the bigger teams like Wes Brown for united or Ivanovic for Chelsea.
Just a thought.

I think we should bin skrytel and look for another centre back. He's complete gash, a liability and has been found out. Or he's totally short of confidence and will overcome his awful start to the season and go on to be our number one choice for years to come.Originally posted by Mike View PostWhat we do need is a better fourth choice CB. Thought Aurelio was brilliant yesterday. When fit, I'd save him for all the big games and let Insua continue his progression against the weaker sides.Originally posted by Parm View Post

No its a dip in confidence, when skrtel is playing well he is immense.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostI think we should bin skrytel and look for another centre back. The question is how long will it take for his confidence to regain?
I would play him against Arsenal, give him some match time.

gotta disagree with that. personally i think carra should have been the one dropped for agger but then carra went on to be our best defender sunday. given time to get some confidence back i still beleive agger and skrtel will be the best partnership in the epl. agger is a true footballing defender and sjrtel is a beast. what a match. upson, although good, is coming to the latter stages of his career when he wont get any better and isnt worth what they will want for him.......12-15 mill.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostI think we should bin skrytel and look for another centre back. I agree 100%. With the exception of Insua the whole team played very well. Credit to Carragher who stepped up to be counted. I never taught I would say this but LUCAS played very well. His best game for the pool by far. The man of the match was Benni. What a performance.Originally posted by fowlen View PostI believe that Agger was one of the key reasons we played so much better than recently.

Plenty of goals although Kuyt is far more likely to score than Riera. No question that Kuyt deserves a spot over Riera at present, but whilst our LB are suffering for form and confidence Yossi can not be played on the left.Originally posted by red g View PostI thought riera did well last season and he is the only player in our current set up who offers us genuine width.
Yossi was great in that position last season when the team was more solid, but lately the team has been very brittle and over exposed and a below par Insua/Aurelio at LB has not helped.
Whilst our LB find their form back we need to offer them more protection, and I think Aurelio or Riera at LW offer a much better shield. Long term Yossi may be a better option, but at present I wouldn't have him on the left, his willingness to cut inside saw Insua get demolished in recent games - Fiorintina away in particular.
Glen Johnson is a more experienced and pacy defender and as witnessed on Sunday coped well with Yossi ahead of him, so maybe dropping Kuyt in his favour would be an option. Another option whilst we wait for Aquilani would be to drop Lucas (or Mascherano if you prefer Lucas) and put Gerrard in CM, with Yossi behind Torres, or again, the same as Sunday with Kuyt off Torres and Yossi on the right.Forwards.......

Skrtel was fantastic against Chelsea and unlucky to be dropped IMO. I'm Carras biggest fan, but he has had the poorer games of late in comparison to Skrtel.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostI think we should bin skrytel and look for another centre back. Difference is that Carra is the vice captain and organiser at the back and needs to be played whenever he is fit, until the time comes when he can not keep up. Of course, he had his form been as bad as people made out, and the bad form had continued I would have been all for dropping him.
But Carra is a solid player that will always come through dips in form.Forwards.......
