I'd play Robbie Threlfall at LB just to annoy Shaggy.

      According to PhysioRoom.com:

A Riera Hamstring Injury no return date
      M Kelly Ankle/Foot Injury 31st Oct 09
G Johnson Groin Strain 25th Oct 09 doubtful
F Torres Abdominal Strain 25th Oct 09 doubtful
S Kyrgiakos Knee Injury Nov 10
S Gerrard Groin Strain 25th Oct 09 very doubtful
A Dossena Groin Strain 25th Oct 09 very doubtful

I guess that means no chance for Kelly.

I wouldn't risk any of Gerrard, Torres or Johnson.

      With the above in mind:

      ----------------------Cavalieri-------------------------
      Degen--------Skrtel--------------Ayala--------Dossena
      ------------------Spearing---Plessis-------------------
      Voronin--------------Pacheco--------------------Babel
      ---------------------Ngog------------------------------

Subs: Hansen, Threlfall, Mavinga, Darby, Amoo, Aquilani, Eccleston

Reading through the squad list at .tv (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/team/squad/) there is a lot of players who we heard alot about earlier, but recently it has gone quiet.

Anybody knows what the status is on players like:
Plessis (I only put him in the team due to lack of alternatives) but as far as I can se he hasn't featured alot this season.

Nemeth. How's he doing on loan?

El Zhar. Is he on loan or what?

And what about players like: Duran, Dalla Valle, Buchtmann, Bruna and Simon...
All was supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. Does any of them live up to their hype?

I don't think Simon was ever the best thing since sliced bread. He's on-loan somewhere. Duran is injured again I think, as is El Zhar. Nemeth is doing pretty well on loan, as far as I know, and is scoring goals.

Apparently Mascherano's suspension is for the Arsenal game - which if true is a right result - and will be available for Fulham.

I too hope Aquilani gets some minutes but agree that it will be from the bench. I'd go with:

              ----------------Cavalieri---------------
              -Degen-----Skrtel----Ayala----Dossena-
              -Babel----Spearing---Lucas---Aurelio---
              ------------N'Gog----Voronin----------

Good mixture of experienced 1st teamers and youth. Aquilani to replace Lucas after 65mins.

                Spearing to start then?

Do we know who is injured and suspended for this game.

I think it is the sort of game where our injuries might be a blessing in disguise allowing us to blood a few young players without too much pressure. I don't want to see a team full of squad/youth players though as a mauling would be bad for confidence. I still think we suffer from experienced reserves though.

Not sure I see any point in plying the likes of Dossena if we have no intention of having him in match day squads.

By the way what is the situation with Dossena, is he/has he been injured? Or has Rafa just decided not to pick him?

                    If true

Although I thought suspensions always took an FA working week (if that's not a contradiction in terms ) to go through so were always for the following weekend

I'd imagine whatever team we play we'll need to have players in the midfield who will hurry the Arsenal players and not give them time on the ball, otherwise particularly if we play a very young team I can see us getting ripped apart.

I'd be extremely pissed off if carra plays in this game.I don't want any of our first team regulars in this game.

I always thought that a game is played before the suspension but never knew why. If that is the case, how come they can process a straight red before the next game?

Skrtel needs playing time to get some confidence back. Degen and Insua as FBs, maybe Ayala to partner Skrtel.

In the middle: don't really care, as long as Amoo and Aquilani come on at some stage. And Ecclestone up front after 60 mins. Will do me.
                            One tit for another.

Masch set to miss arsenal trip

Javier Mascherano will miss Liverpool's Carling Cup trip to Arsenal on Wednesday after being sent off in the 2-0 win over Manchester United.
The one-match suspension follows a late challenge on Edwin van der Sar for which referee Andre Marriner awarded a second yellow card.

Mascherano will be back in contention for next weekend's trip to Fulham.
                              * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Any period of suspension arising from a dismissal from the field of play will commence forthwith, unless a claim has been lodged in accordance with Sections 4 or 5 above.
The suspension will cover all First Team matches until such time as the Player's Club's First Team has completed the number of matches appropriate to the punishment in approved competitions. Any period of suspension or part thereof which remains outstanding at the end of the season must be served at the commencement of the next following season.
                                We come not to play.
