Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has admitted he is becoming frustrated by the Andrea Dossena transfer saga.

The Liverpool left-back has been linked with a move to the Serie A club after a difficult 18 months at Anfield.

He has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter for the Reds and was tipped to secure a switch back to Italy over the summer.

A deal with Napoli broke down amid suggestions that personal terms could not be agreed but the speculation has continued and De Laurentiishas made no secret of his interest.

De Laurentiis hopes something can be sorted but insists he would be prepared to turn his focus elsewhere.

"I'm tired of hearing about Dossena. If they want to give him to us OK, otherwise nothing," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"What is the problem? If a player wants to relaunch, he cannot think only of money.

"However, I'm considering a number of names."

Napoli are enjoying a solid campaign but De Laurentiis is keen for his side to push on from mid-table over the coming months.

He is ready to provide transfer funds in the New Year, saying: "I believe a lot in (coach Walter) Mazzarri and he will be the one to indicate to me what he needs."

Wish we could keep him and play him more regularly on the left wing.

Be gutted to see him go.

For me it depends how much we can get for him whether or not we should let him go

Liverpool ace set for January transfer to Atletico Madrid

Liverpool flop Andrea Dossena is a January target for Atletico Madrid.

Atletico sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch has sounded out Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez about signing the Italian full-back.

Dossena, 28, joined Liverpool from Udinese for £7million 18 months ago but has been a disaster at Anfield.

The Italian has never won a regular place and even gave up his number two shirt when Glen Johnson signed for Liverpool last summer, and now wears number 38.

Dossena is keen to go back to Italy to improve his World Cup chances, and Roma have been keen.

Benitez has been sounded out by Atletico and Liverpool are keen to start doing business as the Kop boss must sell before he can buy.

Atletico are only willing to pay £2m with Liverpool hoping to do a permanent deal rather than a loan to raise funds.

Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena is set to leave Anfield with Atletico Madrid and Russian club Zenit St Petersburg the frontrunners for his signature.

The 28 year old has been limited to only four appearances for Liverpool this season. Since his move from Udinese in 2008, Dossena has failed to establish himself in the Liverpool side.

The Italian, who has ten international caps recently said, “It is clear that staying on the edge [of Liverpool’s first-team squad] is not good and it might be better to find another solution."

According to the Daily Mirror, Atletico sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch has already been in touch with Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez about a move, while reports in the Italian media suggest that Zenit St Petersburg will make a move for Dossena.

Liverpool would likely welcome funds from Dossena's sale as Rafa Benitez is aware that he must sell players before making significant signings ahead of the January transfer window.

                      Scandal price if that's correct.

In times where Keiron Richardson & Danny Higginbottom (for a couple of examples) go for £6m and £3m respectively, then £2m for an international defender is criminal.

                      Criminal.
