"I'm not disappointed with the treatment I've had," he added. "I know how things work and I've always behaved correctly. Benitez chooses the line-up, and I'm paid to respect his choices.
"In truth I am a little bit unhappy with my performances. They have not seen the 'real' Dossena at Anfield."
I think he knows he hasn't been good enough. He is not in a position to argue about not playing. Especially as he's always injured!
Liverpool's £7million flop Andrea Dossena is looking to leave Anfield in January - and claims Napoli, Juventus and AC Milan are chasing him.
The Italian full-back has only made two appearances for Liverpool so far this season against Bolton in the Premier League and Leeds in the Carling Cup, despite moving for a hefty £7million in July last year.
Dossena is worried that being frozen out by Rafa Benitez will severely harm his chances of going to next year's World Cup with Italy, and admits he would like to return to his homeland.
"I know that three big Serie A clubs - Napoli, Juventus and Milan - are looking at me," he said in the News of the World.
"In August they just made other choices. I was very close to going to Juventus in the summer but they signed Fabio Grosso.
"I am now worried I will miss the World Cup."
Dossena became the first ever Italian player to sign for Liverpool last year, but has found first-team chances hard to come by this term.
However, the left-sided player insists that he has not fallen out with manager Benitez, and is just disappointed with his performances since his arrival on Merseyside.

"The negotiations in August were real, but the problem was not only the salary," Pastorello told Radio Kiss Kiss. "Liverpool, in fact, didn't give us the green light to deal with Napoli. The two clubs were not finally agreed.
"What about January? He has played less this year and it is clear that Liverpool have to move him. If Napoli want Dossena, they know how."
Riccardo Bigon, Napoli's sporting director, refused to play down the chances of signing Dossena, who was recruited by Rafael Benitez for £7 million from Udinese in 2008.
Bigon recently told Radio Marte: "I like Andrea Dossena since he played in Treviso. It's early to say names and we do not yet have a problem on the left side thanks to [Jesus] Datolo and [Salvatore] Aronica."
"If from now until January we see he is no longer required by the club, then we will evaluate other scenarios," Dossena's agent, Federico Pastorello, told a local radio station. "Roma? We are delighted Dossena is valued by a coach like Claudio Ranieri. We are not worried about the money, what's important is that he is physically well."
The 28-year-old Dossena has his heart set on a spot in the Italian squad for next year's World Cup and thinks it's best he moves back to an Italian club to pursue his ambition. He almost signed for Napoli in the summer but the deal foundered on Dossena's wage demands. This time, however, with his first-team appearances dwindling, the Italian is said to be willing to take a pay cut.
"The situation is not good, now we will evaluate everything," Dossena was quoted as saying in today's Times. "It is clear that staying on the edge [of Liverpool's first-team squad] is not good and it might be better to find another solution." LINK
Andrea Dossena excited by possible move to Roma

Andrea Dossena’s appearance for Liverpool against Fiorentina last night could be his last for the club, with Roma ready to take the Italy defender back to Serie A when the transfer window opens next month.
Claudio Ranieri, the Roma coach, has identified Dossena, who is out of favour at Anfield having been a big disappointment since signing for Liverpool in a £7 million transfer from Udinese in July last year, as one of his main targets.
The interest from Roma has been welcomed by Federico Pastorello, Dossena’s agent, who has hinted that his client may be willing to accept a pay cut if a move back to Italy is in the best interests of the defender. Dossena, 28, is desperate to get back into Marcello Lippi’s national squad before next summer’s World Cup finals in South Africa.
“Andrea played his 30th Liverpool game against Fiorentina,” Pastorello said. “If from now until January we see he is no longer required by the club, then we will evaluate other scenarios. Roma? We are delighted Dossena is valued by a coach like Claudio Ranieri. We are not worried about the money, what’s important is that he is physically well.”
Rafael BenÃtez, the Liverpool manager, will not prevent Dossena from moving should Roma come up with an offer of about £4 million for the player. Last summer, a proposed transfer to Napoli broke down when Dossena could not agree personal terms, but the left back’s chances in the first team have become so restricted that his wage demands are likely to be much more realistic.
“The situation is not good, now we will evaluate everything,” Dossena said before last night’s game. “It is clear that staying on the edge [of Liverpool’s first-team squad] is not good and it might be better to find another solution.”
Liverpool’s continuing financial problems are likely to result in BenÃtez having to trim his squad in the next transfer window, but the manager will hope that should he receive a substantial fee for Dossena, he will be able to reinvest at least some of the money on a player, with the recruitment of a forward to act as back-up to Fernando Torres being his priority.

On his performance last night he offers more on the left than Babel and more than Riera given the poor form he has been in so far this season. I'd like to see him play against Arsenal but I doubt that will happen.
He looked like a different player last night: slim, fast and agressive.

Defo looks alot leaner and fitter than last season.

The agent of Italian left-back Andrea Dossena has confirmed that the player is wanted by Serie A side Napoli but that Liverpool will not sell unless they receive a suitable cash offer.
The 28-year-old international has failed to hold down a regular starting berth under Rafael Benitez’s stewardship since arriving at Anfield in July 2008 and is thought to be keen on securing a move, even if that meant a short-term loan return to Serie A.
Speaking about his client’s situation, agent Roberto La Florio told Pianetaazurro.it:
"The deal is on hold at the moment as the Reds will not let Dossena go unless they receive a good offer.
"We have to have patience because the situation may change. Napoli and Liverpool have to speak and reach a consensus.
"Napoli want the player, but we have to see what Liverpool say. Rafa Benitez could change his mind and agree to send Dossena on loan which is what De Laurentiis wants."
