Plessis signs new 4 yr deal.

Damien Plessis has signed an extension to his current Liverpool contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2012.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been named as an unused substitute for the Reds on four occasions so far this season, and has made a total of seven appearances for the senior side since his arrival from Lyon in August 2007.

Plessis is a regular in John McMahon's reserve team squad and is also a French under-21 international.

surprised at this.....didnt seem to be going anywhere fast with us.

Yeah a bit strange this, bearing in mind he seems to have been slipping backwards in the pecking order.

Suprised as well, seemed like he stopped developing by now and it's been a long time since he was involved in the first team.

Seems like a couple of other youngsters have overtaken him, but Rafa must still have faith in his ability.

Suprised, but it's probably a good thing.

His rise has taken a few knocks but he is still only young and some players develop slower than others. As long as he is producing in training and showing that he has the potential ability he is worth keeping hold off until such time someone better than him comes through.

At present we have Mascherano, Lucas and Aquilani as proper first teamers. After that comes Spearing and Plessis. So if we had an injury crisis it is likely Plessis would get games. With that in mind it would be daft to let him go at present.
          Forwards.......

It means we could command a higher fee should we sell him.

I've been more impressed with Palsson in the reserves recently. Although he's obviously a couple of years younger.

He has the build and does command authority.

Good player Palsson. But I know who I'd rather have in the first team if it was an important game.

His regression of late has been quite deplessing.

                      I'll get my coat.

Good move this, he has the potential over the course of his contract to fill out so becoming a real physical presence in midfield (something that unfortunately Spearing will always lack) which would make him a player similiar in ilk to Diaby or Sissoko
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

If he develops he could be our very own Huddlestone.

I'm very surprised at this. A 4-year deal for a 21 year old who doesn't look close to break through.
