The media have the knives out for Liverpool FC, no question.

He looks far from out of place in the Dutch team so I doubt that.

    Even Lucas to be fair.

It is a real shame we keep drawing tough teams in the League Cup cos it means our ressies never get the chance to practice. grow & improve.

Meh, didn't really deserve to lose that. It may only be the Carling Cup but we haven't won a trophy since the FA Cup in 2006, so I'd take anything at the moment including the Carling Cup.

Claridge (what a useless prick) is slaughtering us on Five Live. One of the worst 'pundits' their is. Clueless. Clueless. Reckons our signings come in and then flogged for less a year later... oh and of course, we're a two man team

I think if Degen can stay fit we could play him & Johnson and drop Kuyt. He needs a break. In fact with more pace in the team and the skill of the italian lad, Kuyt will look even further out of touch with the team. He works hard but lacks most things that quality footballers have. He takes so many touches.

Aquilani just oozes class, you dont need to wait months before being able to tell that its just the vision, touch, movement etc. Degen done really well and I'd say with Kelly right back has gone from woefully short to looking very decent now.
Was just about to say if we had Mascherano or Gerrard playing tonight i reckon we could easily have won it.

I didn't think we'd win the match and wasn't overly fussed.

It was a good game though and I really got into it. Was gutted we lost in the end. We definitely deserved extra time. I really want us to have a good cup run in one of the domestic cups this year.

Spearing reminds me of Murphy. Good technique and a decent player. He won't be world class but I'd rather have him on the bench than a few others.

I'm gutted we're out. A trophy that has served us so well over the years. We realistically have the FA cup to win. Of course we can still win the league & CL but we're far far from favourites for either.

    5 defeats in 6.
I'm sure paddy would agree h:..............I think this kid will make it at a Championship club at best , not good enough I'm afraid.............we have sold young players of similar standard or even better............that kid we sold to Newcastle was as good , Watched Hamil last night and he had more about him , Sorry Jay but good luck with your career

Not the best either though. All very well that just because he is a DM that he can play a simple game and get away with it. We need to see more quality, more movement and simply more ability. If all he can do is sit deep, move very slowly and play simple passes then it isn't enough for our needs

Agree that he's better than Spearing but not sure either of them have a long term future at the club.
Urgency is a key word. Im not sure if he has none or if he is just of such limited ability that he can't do anything about it.

I wish Spearing would stop ****ing shooting. He's like mascher in that regard. They are both awful at shooting. Everytime they see the goal infront of them and know they don't have the creativity to set up a chance they just blast it over or wide and concede possession
