end of the day Rafa signed him.....funny thing is though he'd be a real star under wenger's guideOriginally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostSee the Babel thread. But in a nut shell he is a confidence player who need the managers arm around him. Not a Rafa player.Last edited by Bender; 31-10-09, 07:11 PM.

because being out of the CL on wednesday is a mortal blow compared to being out of it next year.Originally posted by vonk View PostWe are 11 points behind Chelsea. It's over. We can't win every game and we've already lost 5. Even the most red-tinted red would admit its over. Putting all our eggs in the CL basket is very risky. Yes, we could make the second stage but its a tough one to win. Like someone said, whats the point resting players now, when we could be out of every competition come January.Felching ≠ Gerbilling

Nothing against you mate, but this ****e is wheeled out time and again with Babel. We have absolutely no way of knowing that. I've heard a few times people saying that Babel wasn't exactly great before we signed him. I mean, Pako has his doubtsOriginally posted by Bender View Postend of the day Rafa signed him.....funny thing is though he'd be a real start under wenger's guideSack swinging like Dub-D40 on a door hinge

I'm not excusing Rafa's substitutions but we don't know why he made them to be fair. I don't agree with substituting Torres and Benni, as I think he should have taken a risk with Torres, even though he isn't fully fit, so as to ensure we get a win, just to build our confidence up.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostSo why give Fulham more confidence by taking of your best player. And only goal scoring threat?
Pathetic. I wish Craig H was still on this site as I'd love to have heard his views on the game.
As I said previously, it is sometimes better to win and lose a key player, than lose and keep the player in cotton wool, because a win gives the whole squad (and some players low on confidence) a massive lift - and 3 points!!
In any case, this is Rafa and he'll stick by his principles.
It's surely 9 points, not 11 right?Originally posted by vonk View PostWe are 11 points behind Chelsea. It's over. We can't win every game and we've already lost 5. Being out of the CL is bad for who? The finances of the owners? Who cares. Rafa's transfer budget? Do you really think Rafa is going to get money in January to buy a back up for Torres? And even if he did, do you trust him to buy the right player?
There may be something going on behind the scenes, but surely the idea that he is being asked by the owners to prioritise the CL for financial reasons is ridiculous. Surely he would walk, knowing he is betraying the fans who support him by conceding the league.

9, my bad. Still a chasm. We have to win almost every game.Originally posted by redder View PostI'm not excusing Rafa's substitutions but we don't know why he made them to be fair. As for Lyon away. We can only hope they underestimate us after today's shambles and we somehow manage to beat them.
In saying that i expect them to beat us comfortably.
Hopefully we manage to win the two games after Lyon and finish 3rd meaning we've got the Europa league to look forward to.Last edited by Marky; 31-10-09, 07:33 PM."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. So if Rafa took Torres off because he's injured and to keep him safe for next week, why was he risked at all?

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

I've no problem with the Torres substitution, none at all.
In the past, when he's been less than 100% fit and left on the bench, idiotic pundits lay into him screaming "why leave him out and bring him on late, why not start him, let him get his goal and then take him off after an hour?"
Now, of course, they're slating him anyway.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
