whether we like it or not, mourinho will be favourite for the job. i want rafa to stay etc but if it looks like we won't make next years CL the owners would have a big call to make whoever they are.

I don't agree at all.Originally posted by Tee View PostTotally disagree - IMO the Liverpool Managers job will interest the very best from all over the world despite our off the pitch issues.
The truly big names in the world of management wouldn't want to come anywhere near us with such uncertainty surrounding every aspect of the club. Why would a manager who's spent decades building up a reputation risk it all on a situation where there are huge constraints and equally huge expectations?"My commitment to Liverpool is 100 per cent. I would die for that Liverpool shirt. I think the club loves me and I feel the same, no matter what the situation." - Pepe Reina, Nov '09.

Steve Bruce is doing well with limited resources and his team have had the edge consistently over us recently. If not, Alan Curbishley was a fan and players' favourite as he was touted as a favourite before Rafa took charge. Another one who would be a decent contender and one who like the above named two would be a fans favourite (considering the pool of talented managers available), is Mick McCarthy who is doing a great job with Wolves (keeping them afloat - just).

That's my take on it, if it's true that we have to sell before negotiating contracts, well that means we will go backwards rather quickly and no manager could do anything about that.Originally posted by BFG View PostI don't agree at all.

The other way to look at it would be if Rafa is forced out it's a sign that any new manager will at the very least have to surpass his achievements. Capello/ Hiddink etc aren't stupid and they know that with no money for transfers then that's a huge task and one that I personally don't think they'd go for."My commitment to Liverpool is 100 per cent. I want Rafa to stay no doubt mainly because it's a big project ,he has only took over the accademy this year so we aint going to reap the rewards for at least 5 years , also he was without 11 players on Saturday No Manager on the planet would cope with that, But If we did look for a replacement we want a strong manager who gets instant respect Not so much a tactician but a very strong man manager Not sure who fits into that role at the mo but that blue **** down the road is good at that fair play, So is that noob from Villa park and Harry boy from north London also Maureen fits into that catagory So like I said I want Rafa to stay

if rafa goes. jose will come in. doesnt really matter what we think. he'll come in and be successful. i dont have a problem with him as manager personally and frankly, given what else is out there, he'd be my choice.
However.
it wont happen as we cannot afford to sack rafa and replace him and his team.
I think it'd cost in the region of 50-75 mill to do that. 25-30 mill payoff to him and the others that leave. then the cost of new players / transfer kitty than any new manager would want. and that assumes that the new manger would command an equal salary to rafa. jose is on a fortune so over 3 or 4 years, i'd expect him to cost about 10 mill more than rafa.
it wont happen, and it shouldnt happen. if we can afford to sack the man with 50mill, we should be backing him with 50mill.
Simply, our owners are holding the manager back more than anything. sure rafa's not perfect but if their negative influence on the club wasnt there, things would be very different.
