I can't quite believe what I'm reading on this site. We will finish 4th all day long, no ****ing problems. There is an international break coming up this month and after that we will likely have evryone back fit.

We've been ****ing abysmal so far by our lofty standards and yet after Monday night we could still be only 7 points of top spot. The same position we were in after Man Utd away last season, taking into account the Mancs games in hand.

If we can get the points difference down to 6 points after the Xmas period then we have a real fighting chance of winning the league, provided we get a cleaner bill of health.

It will be difficult to win the league, but not impossible. Why the hell would anyone even contemplate taking 4th spot?
well said. i'm not sure i can quite reach these heights of optimism but a win tonight and some sort of steadying of the ship would remind us all that it's only november. a ****in loss tonight though...

Only the very best effort is good enough for us, never ever stop fighting untill long after the fat chick has lost her voice, had two pies for supper and has gone to bed.

FFS Im glad some of you lot are not serving in Afghanistan, show some balls when the chips are down.
Cheers. I'm glad i'm not as well

We won't win the league, you can quote me on that.

Not sure why that's in the filter here to be honest, it isn't on other places that are more mainstream. Seems unnecessarily PC.

No - I still think we are going to get through the group stages.

And although we won't win the league again this year, there's no way we will finish outside the top four either.

Rumours of our demise have been greatly exaggerated!!

That's just not true. We'll see.

There is always a way. If Liverpool continue playing as they are now they will not finish top 4. But I think we will improve, and that's the difference in opinion on this site.

I am more worried about tonights prospects than finishing fourth. Because in a must win game anything can happen, in the league I see the light at the end of the tunnel, in the CL it's do or die. Beat Lyon away and we are as good as through, but it's not an easy task.

That said, if we can beat Barca and Inter away and come from 3 down in a CL final then anything is possible. The Barca and Inter teams were better than this Lyon team, as of course were Milan.

Exactly. This is the worst time to judge us, and as usual people are massively overreacting about how bad we are. Players that were deemed excellent last year seem to have been thrown on the bonfire (seasonal ) now. People are far too taken in by media sensationalism these days unfortunately.

Bang on. Last year peole were saying Hull would finish in the European places. Sounds crazy now but that is what was doing the rounds. Then after that nonsense it was Villa to challenge for the title, with a great many people on this site predicting a 5th placed finish for Liverpool.

                    It's a media driven society.

But people weren't saying that though were they? The media may have been, but I suspect the mistake is people listening to the media and believing that this reflects the view of 'people'. This year, people and media have coincided due to the undeniable fact that we have been **** and lost almost half of our games.

"This is the worst time to judge us" - Yes, let's judge us when we like the results.

Aaaaargh, that should be too diffident. Shocking typo from someone so pedantic- apologies everyone.
                        3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Yes they were mate, on this very site. And there were polls on whether Liverpool would finish in the top 4, just as there is now. And the best time to judge a season is at the end, not in the beginning or in the middle.

Exactly it's the only fair time to do so. The same applies for judging us as impending title winners after a flying start to the season. Football fans just dont have any patience these days.
