It was injustice towards Babel. What must he do to begin a game? Score a hatrick in the last 5 minutes? If I were Babel I'll be gutted and not surprisingly he is looking for a new club. We always say that Babel doesn't know how to defend! (the Benitez mentality)Did ever Giggs and Ronaldo know how? Does Messi know? I'm not saying that Babel is good as Messi but give the lad a chance to develop his talent!!!
Babel has not done well enough for Rafa to change his system to suit him. But then even if he had, I don't think Rafa would move from his rigid stance.
    Forwards.......

It took Babel two years to learn it was a good idea to whinge less. On that basis there is hope that he is simply a slow learner but he has done very little to justify a starting place. What he has to do is be consistently good even if that is only as a substitute. The fact that people cling on to one moment of genuine class as a justification for him starting just about sums up the situation with him to my mind.

No-one is saying Babel should be starting every game but when you score such a great goal the previous game you'd think his confidence would be up and starting him would be the right thing to do.
Combine that with Kuyt and Yossi's display in Lyon and you would expect Babel to get the nod next game. Riera too who somehow found himself in the starting line up the other night.

Surely it is the fact that Yossi, Kuyt and Riera have consistently played better than Babel that earned them their places? I think basing a selection on a cameo is the wrong way to go - his entire career with us Babel has occasionally given excellent sub appearances and failed to build on them.

the arguement that babel hasn't done enough to deserve a starting place is a pretty thin one esapecially on recent team perfromances. the team isn't performing well at all but somehow he is the only one not to get a chance. riera has played only a handfull of minutes, has no match practice and still babel got eleft out for him. the only way to get the consistency is to play him and what better time to do that than now when a change is badly needed. following on from the lyon game, i agree with marky, it was a travesty that babel never started.

i think calling it a travesty is a bit over the top,,,how do you know he didnt come into training with 2 bitches either side, throw his pimp hat to torres and said whose the daddy now?

fact is since he scored that goal he may or may not have done **** all in training since, so may well not deserve to start.

His confidence should have been high for the remainder of the Lyon game after scoring but he was still poor after it
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
