People continue to mope on about Babel.

We all know his negatives and they are well documented on here. I personally would love to see him cover for Gerrard and play behind Torres, I think he'd be sensational given time. I haven't heard enough from Benitez lately to make a proper judgement on him. We know he was initially not starting games because he lacked the fitness, then it was because he failed to track back as Rafa wants (something Pennant moaned about). I don't know if Babel has improved on either of those things.

What I will say, is yes plenty of LFC players can score from 20 plus yards. But how many could do it on the big occasion? And how many have scored against Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea? All from coming off the bench.

But Babel needs to perform when given the chance to start against lesser opposition. He's not done the business in that respect.
      Forwards.......

He should certainly play in that role ahead of Voronin.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think babel deserves a start on the next match for his goal alone. i know he doesnt have a footballer brain, he loses the ball every single time etc etc, but he got a goal when everything was against us and should be rewarded for that alone.

His goal was spectacular and reminded me of gerrards "hollywood" goals. showed us what he could really do. the problem is i do not really see him developing other aspects of his game, is this due to our coaching staff or rafa? but as some of you stated hes still young and needs more game time to develop.

do we keep him/ or do we sell him and regret if he becomes the next anelka...

I know it hurts, and believe me, I'm the kind of guy who hates losing. Babel will probably move on to pastures new but until he's still here and wearing the LFC shirt, you won't see me abusing him. I'll be supporting him. Same goes for Voronin, Dossena & al. It doesn't mean I 'settle' for mediocrity, but until we have better players and we can afford some of them, I'll just carry on.

It's better than raising your blood pressure levels to breaking point.
I don't think you understand what fickle actually means

Go look it up in a dictionary and then re-read my post you moron.

Whats the point in that? Just because they play for the club we HAVE to support them till they leave? **** that! Thats why we come 2nd-4th every season. There is one thing and one thing only why people play football at this level. To win things. With players like Babel and Voronin we wont win much anytime soon.....i guess you're happy with that, being second best all the time, whilst our rivals over take us. I'm not, i love this club, and i hate watching us regress when we were so close last season.

The problem with this whole "played out of position" thing with Babel is that I really can't see him having the intelligence to play upfront. He rarely picks the right pass, hasn't got the selfless workrate, and disappears far too often from games when he is played in a position where he should see more of the ball than he would up top. I would just about rather see him played there than Voronin, but as far as choices go its not a very good one either way.

Oh, and it would be appreciated if we could leave out the "who is a better supporter" nonsense. Some people respond to adversity by bunkering down and backing the team no matter what - an admirable quality to have, but only if you understand at the same time that those who are angry and frustrated are so because they also care deeply and hate seeing the club they love fail. I think you'd struggle to find any fan who wouldn't be extremely happy if Babel suddenly turned into a reincarnation of Eusebio, but that doesn't seem very likely right now, and the fans frustration at players like him, especially in the face of numerous bad results, is inevitable.

By the same count however, someone who wants to be more supportive doesn't deserve abuse either. So really, lets leave the name calling to fans of other teams, there's no need for lfc supporters to turn on each other just because they disagree about minor specifics.

We've got some **** fans Mike, as well as having some very good ones. That's a fact I'm afraid. This forum is an example.

Some of them haven't seen us win anything of note (championships) under their lifetime. Maybe they are too young and getting sucked in with the rivalry and constant taunting by United supporters.

Its got nothing to do with age. i was born and living when we were dominating in the 80's..but i was of course too young to really follow a team (not to mention Australia wasn't the easiest place to watch football then). I still of course liked Liverpool, because my brothers did, and that has continued on.

Sucked in to the rivalry? There is a rivalry! Its been that way forever, we ****ing hate them ,and them us. There is no getting around this.

You should support Everton with your attitude to losing. Born to lose, support mediocrity. I bet your parents used to buy you an ice cream as a reward for coming dead last in sprints at school.

Oh he knows it before you even got a sniff of it, you dumb arse.

As for the 'fickle' reference well, the point I was trying to make was obvious, even if I didn't emphasise it properly in my post. Still, I have a smart arse such as you for correcting my English, when in the first place it is not my first language. Thank you for that. By the way, fancy having a bit of chit chat in French with me? I might teach you some 'art de vivre' which should embellish your culture a bit.

Coming back to the topic of this thread, if Babel had 'two left feet' as you would imply, he wouldn't be scoring goals such as the one he scored the other day. Maybe he's lazy (or looks like one) or hasn't got much footballing brains, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have talent. He's got bags of it but doesn't demonstrate it enough at the highest level. I've got no qualms in Rafa selling him when he sees fit. My point all along is that some supporters are just quick to level abuse at players when things aren't going our way, cue the reference to being 'fickle'. You'd love him if he'd put in more consistent performances for us eh? Someone with half a brain would have understood what I meant.

As for me deleting my post, well I spouted a load of abuse at you which I didn't feel you deserve. That's why I deleted it.
