    Except Standard Chartered.

I'd accept naming rights for the new stadium if it meant getting it built, but not for Anfield, no.

Newcastle's name is ridiculous by the way. Suits them.
    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Standard Chartered have sponsored the shirt, not the stadium.

Do it i say! Its about time we moved into the 21st century and started looking to build a new era of dominance not dreaming of past glories...

As long as its the right sponsor and we get the right price go for it!

Aye I know. It is a pretty obvious statement you made, so I presumed you meant the club as a whole.

Obviously, you are right in that any sponsor of the stadium would need a cast iron guarantee that it is going to be built.

To be honest I think alot more people would accept selling the naming right to a new stadium but I think that there is likely to be alot more opposition from people to doing it to the current stadium. I guess people would see naning rights to a new stadium as a necessary evil ensuring that it got built, and new start new ideas. But I'd imagine people would see selling the naming rights to the current Anfield as selling our soul and disrespecting the history and tradition.

Personally I don't think things are that black and white.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I understand that mate. Just to reiterate my comments above: Anfield, no. Newun, Aye, if it helps achieve it being built.

                        From the BBC Gossip Column:
Liverpool hope to raise £250m through the sale of the naming rights to their proposed new stadium.

Never rename the existing stadium, it's a spectacular fail on the PR and Marketing front - just look at Newcastle Some jokers just don't understand.

However, I'd seriously look at stadium naming rights for the new stadium, it'll never be Anfield anymore, so lets not kid ourselves, might as well take the corporate buck. IMO Arsenal's stadium rights has been a success, with Emirates Stadium an easily remembered name which has stuck, none of the @ bollocks.

Doesn't matter what it would be called we'd all still refer to it as Anfield and it'd still be Anfield.

we can't complain about having no money and then turn our noses up at a very viable stream for big wads.

I'd take the money provided every single cent went on boosting the squad with new arrivals.

I'd sell the naming rights to my house for a few million if anyones interested?

Anfield as a name is synonymous with our history. What price for history, eh? What price for reputation?

The Stadium formerly known as Anfield Dot Carlsberg Dot Com doesn't quite have the same historic ring to it, does it?
I know what you are saying when you say I have answered my own question, in that of course I would rather not but in this day and age of money being everything then I would actually consider it.

We need to be able to compete with other teams.
