Yes me too. 4th place and winning the Europa League is about as much as I can see us getting now. Really.

    Where'd it all go wrong!?

we are drawing 2-2 against one of our rivals with 15 to go why not try and win the match with aquilani ?

we go to make sure we dont lose the match instead of trying to win the match.

I couldnt see fergie, ancelotti or wenger making decisions like that. No matter which way we look at this benitez is a defensive minded coach. Its surprising given that we cant defend for ****.
I think he doesn't want to risk him until he's sure he's fit after such a long lay off, I suspect he would have come on today if it wasn't for injuries and fitness issues which dictated all our subs.

What makes people like you think i wanted Aquilani to come on?

Riera/El Zhar would have offered more going forward than Aurelio.

Gerrard could also slide over to LW and put Aquilani in the middle.

so you wanted to hold on for a draw then?

I didnt, i wanted to win.

Aurelio is more likely to create something than Riera and El Zhar. Sad but true.

I don't understand why you're all thinking it was a defensive substitution

Ignore where he normally plays, what he does give you is a good set-piece (usually ) and an assured, classy touch on the ball and accurate passing, which we were distinctly lacking in the 2nd half imo

thats depressing very depressing......a injury prone defender more creative than two wide players......doesn't reflect well on the manager....am gonna drink some bleach

because a creative midfilder went off and a defender came on

He might be injury prone but his fitness level would have been higher than either of the other 2 as they were coming back from injury, and there were some hefty challenges flying in at the end and the pace of the game was high, he could have though this would have been more important, and because of this Aureilo could impact the game more quickly
