I don't get your point then. We still won even if it was an ugly win against a sub standard team. We all know that we'll play better and improve, so I can understand the statement of the manager and the captain.

Regardless of whats happening in the future. I still dont see the need in making a bollocks run of the mill statement about a performance hundreds of thousands of other people can see wasnt particularly convincing. You dont necassarily have to say 'We were garbage tonight' but you shouldnt just make **** up.

Totally agree. But that wasn't what I was getting at. Up until this point he's always had my full backing, regardless of what on the surface, appear to be utterly irrational decisions

Must admit, I'm with you there fella.

Fat Tony just won't get it, whatever way we'll put it, and he's not the only one. For a start we haven't even spent a lot of money, contrary to popular belief.

Anyway, until Rafa has got supporters as managers, I won't lose any sleep about who doesn't believe in his methods. Swings and roundabouts, he's got a 5 year contract and his managing director thinks he's doing a good job.

It's an either/or between him and Mascherano - with both on the pitch there isn't enough craft however if Mascherano was unavailable I'd have no quarms in sticking Lucas in.

Mascherano is the better player though.

I actually think it is a more wide ranging problem than that. The way I see it is that it is not necessarily the Mascherano - Lucas axis that is at fault but that we can't have a team that has them + Kuyt and Skrtel as we will play to deep and play against the strengths of pretty much all of our players. Agger has been unfit most of the time when he has played which has limited the impact he has had in terms of improving those problems.

I actually think that Lucas has the better passing and may become the prefered CM over Mascherano if we ever get Aquilani back to full fitness. I like Mascherano a lot and in many ways he is presently the better player but he gets a nosebleed in the opposition half and I don't see him improving where as I do see Lucas doing so.
