I think that two things are happening here. Firstly Rafa is rightly being super cautious as a mistake in his rehabilitation can result in us not having him for maybe 6 months+ and secondly I think he is being bulked up and strengthened at the same time so that he is premiership ready.

Our squad is piss weak so when he is on the bench I think it's more a case of in the offchance that we batter someone he can come on, get a bit of confidence and step up his fitness. Fixtures and results haven't worked to this effect.

I can't see anything wrong in what Rafa is doing but had he got better results this year the entire process would have been a hell of a lot easier.
Very unlikely. To bulk someone up in a few months WILL MOST DEFINTATELY cause more problems to the individual. It will definately slow him down, effect his stamina and lead to muscular problems. Bulking up properly takes a long time - Lucas is a prime example of this. He has slowly put on some weight and is now a lot stronger.

Aquilani is 6ft plus and is hardly lighweight. I think it was Totti who said he is quite physical.

He will maybe play a part against Blackburn but surely he's pencilled in to start the Fiorintina match. Gerrard will maybe need a rest after the B'burn match with the Arsenal game in mind so Aquilani can take his place.

Cool, should have known better instead of indulging into a game of Tennis with Pete Sampras.

He looks very tall. Apparently he's only 6ft 1" though. He looks a lot taller though. He weighs 78kg whch is the perfect weight for a footballer of that height.

I wouldn't class 180cms as very tall though.

Pablo1981. There's a diference between physical fitness and match fitness. We disagree about how physically fit Aquilani is. He can get fitter than he is at the moment in training. Letting him play while well below par considering the unrealistic hope and expectation of many fans is only setting him up for a fall and even greater pressure as he recovers.

Saj: Aquilani is not "fully fit"

You can try and turn it into a black and white issue but fitness is not like that.

2-30 minutes in games where he can shirk a 50/50 or not risk that extra stretch to make interception etc is very different to the last 20-30 minutes of a derby when we're 1-0 up,

He's 186 cm which makes him 6ft 1" which is tall. Anything above 6ft has to be classed as tall for anything other than a goalkeeper/central defender. As I said, he actually looks a lot taller than that.
