The Lyon game at Anfield was like a morgue. I thought for one moment it was Saturday afternoon and we were playing Wigan.
I wonder if SOS actually still believe they have much support left??
The threw everything they could have build up away long ago.!

This is what pisses me off with SoS. DIC have been the only alternative buyer for a long while, and now they are off the radar until they get their own house in order. In the scenario that was originally posted, who on earth are they suggesting would have bought the club to produce such a scenario, given that they are now acknowledging that we dodged a bullet with DIC? Surely they are not trying to imply that Moores and Parry could have built the stadium and signed snoogy doogy themselves, as his inability to do so was the precise reason that Moores decided to sell up!Picture this in some alternative universe: 9th December 2009. Liverpool line up to play their last ever Champions League group game at Anfield before moving into their newly built 60,000 seater stadium next season. Snoogy Doogy (Torres/Aquilani) sits the game out injured as Liverpool slip to a one-nil defeat to Fiorentina in a meaningless game since the Reds were condemned to the Europa league in the previous game. In the pubs around Anfield after the game fans discuss what on earth is going to happen to the club and it's owners DIC with the recent news stories about financial troubles in Dubai, and how on earth they are going to meet the payment on the new stadium while still keeping a decent squad now that the Dubai money has dried up.
I think it's safe to say that we would all want Hicks and Gillette to be replaced with owners who have money to burn, but where are these mythical investors with a spare half billion in their back pocket? If Purslow is right, and a minority investment is on the cards that will allow us to get the stadium back on track with H&G, then I'd take that at the moment, as I can't see any saviours on the horizon.
Fiorentina, for once, is the ideal game for such a protest - there's nothing riding on it, so it doesn't matter so much if we end up distracting a bit from what happens on the pitch. But until SoS come up with a realistic set of aims, and approach to achieving them - i.e. not just "yanks out" - then they won't be getting my support.Last edited by calvoboy; 01-12-09, 12:18 PM.

This is it in a nutshell. Until there is a viable alternative we're screwed. In an ideal world i'd like the club to be fan owned, unfortunately in the real world this is never going to happen. Even if the club is sold, that doesn't guarantee decent new owners but you can bet they would offer the world. I don't see much milage in constantly whining without offering solutions. At least we are starting to generate decent money off the pitch and if pressure is being put on H&G i'd like to see it targeted at squad investment.Akloppalypse Now !

It is clear that for all the problems with debt and their occasional inability to communicate G&H have turned round many of the off field parts of the Liverpool business. It also seems that in Purlsow they have found someone who is very good at balancing the finances while giving Rafa as much information and freedom to operate as can be accommodated. We have a far from ideal ownership situation but it is also far from the nightmare many try and paint it as."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I can see you've been around these boards for a while - I respect you for that, but you've obviously changed you user name - why?
Anyway who cares. No-one likes your wiser than though pithy attitude anymore. You don't represent us. And you don't know better - sorry but the only direct contact with the club I have seen from SOS demonstrate an embarassing inability to understand finance.
