I know he will, but I was trying to think positive.

I reckon we should introduce dirk to the mccanns in the hope they'll take him on holiday and lose him.

Surely the best combination is Benayoun and Johnson?

If we had to stick with Kuyt in the team i would probably swap johnson and kuyt round though!

Although maybe Johnson and Kuyt works well because Kuyt can cover when Johnson gets caught out of position on his bombing runs? it needs someone more disciplined than benayoun on the right?

Last night proved Dossena to be a fair option on the left wing.
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Not a bad shout to be honest.

He used to play as a striker in his younger years and he can certainly present a bigger threat than Kuyt down that right side.

Play Gerrard on the right and Aquilani behind Torres. Lucas and Masch in midfield. Still 4-2-3-1.

Johnson should still play right back.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

What if we played Glenn Johnson as a right winger? But he's a fullback, yes he is but he's not a stick of rock, you cut him open he doesn't say right back inside. He's easily been our best attacking player this season. He goes past people so easily. He's a joy to watch. He's wasted at full back. We need to give him more of the ball.

Ray Kennedy was a striker when we signed him and was converted to a midfielder and is one of our best ever players.

It can be done. We have Kelly, Degen & Darby who could play full back. I honestly think Johnson on the right wing would give us so much more. He has pace, ability, eye for goal, can dribble and cross. Torres would love it.

Sometimes you have what you need right in front of you. Its about making the best of what you do have and not worrying about what you can't have. We don't have an arab with deep pockets, but we do have a very special talent on our books.

Johnson as an attacking threat works from RB because whoever playes RM drifts inside to create the space, he wouldn't neccessarily be more effective starting RM.

Seperate point as well but would Johnson want to play RM in World Cup year when he is England's 1st choice RB, I know we don't give a **** but it's fair to assume he does.

Some really interesting posts in here, i'm learning so much about this planet, and particularly fuel production and it's effects.. .

Oh, and Johnson on the wing, well, considered it myself not so long ago, think he'd manage their just fine, and when you consider that the best part of his game is going forward and not defending, i constantly ask myself, why is this guy not a winger, or at least why is he not a winger come defender sometimes.

The bigger problem is who would take his place in defence.

It will never happen - Kuyt is one of the first names on the teamsheet. Johnson should stick to RB with the license to attack.

Kind of agree. He's far more skillful, and looks like more of an attacking threat than Kuyt has this season

However part if not most of the reason he looks so good going forward, is because he's afforded the luxury of bombing up at every given opportunity.

Ie, because there is someone in front of him to ensure that we're not massively exposed down the right hand side

                            Ie, Kuyt

I know this may sound silly but in moving Johnson to the wing would mean we have one less attacking and creative player on the pitch. At the moment we have him as an attacking fullback, and an attacking right sided midfielder (usually Kuyt). Replacing Johnson at right back will give us a more defensive minded fullback, leaving us an attacking player down on the current system
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

disagree. if we put a fence post in at right back it'd be more attacking than kuyt.
