I for one will give Rafa until the end of the season, regardless.
IF we finish top four, he can stay. If we dont, we can post him 2nd class to Madrid.
Most of our problems are his fault. I stand by the fact he has spent poorly for two summers He still spent close to £40m this summer. Its how it was spent.
Its also our tactics. I said from the start, Aquilani was the wrong option, as we would have to change our formation to fit him in. If todays cameo is anything to go by, we have no clue of how to play with him in the team. I think this is why Rafa hasnt played him. HE recognises that he doent fit in with the formation he prefers, and he is loath to break up the Gerrard/Torres partership (ie the only thing that seems good about the team).
It must be dawning on Rafa that the teams is fundamentally broken. The defence isnt working correctly, the midfield has the wrong balance, and the attack is Gerrard and Torres. WE cant afford a decent replacement for either, so its those two or bust...
Perhaps Rafa will turn it around. If he can get the defence and midfield to gel (not sure why its so poor when he has two midfielders sitting in front of it) and keep Torres and Gerrard fit, he may yet qualify. Although he still has the fact that he will have little to spend next summer to strengthen the team to contend with.
