Hicks & Gillett denied access to Anfield

It may not have been the right result on the pitch for Liverpool today, but off the pitch it was a success for the Liverpool Supporters Union, Spirit of Shankly.

A peaceful protest took place prior to kick off, aimed at denying joint owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett access to Anfield. The protest was a success with 8 empty seats in the director’s box during the game and police turning Hicks and Gillett away on health and safety grounds.

SOS posted a short update on their Facebook page tonight saying the protest worked. Full details will be made available on Monday.

It appears there were some arrests, although one in particular seems to have been a blatant targeting of an SOS leader.

Disgusting, what did they do threaten their lives?

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Embarrasing, I wouldn't blame them if they asset stripped the club, made their money and pissed off back to the states laughing their arses off.

SOS have become a laughing stock in my eyes, Dubai isn't looking that shiney these days, Adu Dhabi are focused on F1........jesus wept, it might just be time to accept this is our lot and work with it.

Buyers aren't exactly queuing up, so if SOS get the yanks out what then?

              Hear Hear Gazmo,

Could somebody please show me some lovely green grass on the other side?

There is no other side - period.

SOS are a bunch of clowns, the yanks aren't the best owners, but who is??

That's our lot - play the hand we are dealt, get on with it.

Stopping the owners from being in the director's box been seen as a moral victory? What a joke.

I bet if Shankly had've been about today, he would have gave this quango group a mouthful and told them to wise the **** up.

**** this, i'm going to bed.............

i respect the passion of you people, but do you honestly believe that threatening the livelihood of an hill billy like hicks helps our cause he is more likely to sell us down the river because of the threats than trying to secure our future

No it isn't, and you agree with me. I have decided that I will speak on your behalf from now on. Hope you don't have a problem with that. It's what Bob Paisley would have wanted.

Funny really, I'm fairly sure the "yanks" weren't managing that game or the entire season for that matter. Best central midfielder, best striker, best holding midfielder, arguably the best keeper in the world and we sit in 7th. Money has nothing to do with this and SOS are ****ing clowns

I'm not sure I can disagree with that. Simple poker/life philosophy but more than appropriate given the situation.

Why are we a bunch of clowns? For actually giving a **** enough to try to change things for the better? For providing cheap travel to away games? For not wanting the owners to rape the club to line their own pockets?

Specifically meant the part in bold.

How? Yanks out isn't changing things for the better unless you come up with someone to take over and run the club in a better way.

Give us solutions instead of whining about the problem then maybe you'll be taken seriously.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not in any doubt whatsoever about the groups passion, support and commitment, and I do kind of respect that for what it is, however the groups methods are just cringeworthy.

Woohoo! We stopped H&G attending the match!

And? It's achieved what exactly? Another headline which makes us look a fractured club with thug fans and an absolute joke.

                              Well done, get in there.

They'll be able to keep up the whining and protesting for many years to come as no ****er would be stupid enough to buy us with that mob on the loose.
