He does look average, but so does nearly everyone of our players under Hodgson. He is an attacking player and having to sit back for 80 minutes a game will probably not show up his best qualities.

Yup head down, no brain and no productivty. Hmmm sounds like Babel. And when people say he was free so they don't mind, we are still paying big wages for him so that adds up.

At least Baros knew where the goal was enough to end up as top scorer in the European Championship for the Czechs (I backed him at 50-1, so made a killing!). Jovanovic has so far show himself to be a bit average at best. I certainly don't give a **** if he's in the team or not as he's done precious little for us to date.

He was available at 60-1 before I backed him and came into 40-1 and 33-1 here and there. They were crazy odds for a player who'd scored something like 2 goals every 3 international games at that time, including against top countries, so I was rightly convinced that it was a no-brainer of a bet.

He was also playing for the Czechs, who I think were favourites for the tournament, or certainly one of the two or three shortest-priced countries, so he was getting good service and plenty of chances.

I'd also backed them each-way at something like 7-1 and also in a double as winners with Baros as top scorer and was gutted that they got knocked out in the semis I believe.

Of course the "experts" had the likes of Rooney etc at much, much shorter prices than Baros, certainly not in reflection of their relative international goal-scoring records

He was 66/1 (must be the price you're thinking of, they don't do 60/1 ) the day I checked his price...went along to the bookies the day after and he'd been backed in to 50s. I got on him that day along with a few work mates who I'd given Baros as a bit of a tip

And yeah he was a crazy price given his scoring record at that level and the Czechs' form at the time.

We took a free scratchcard from the guy on the streets. Uncovered 3 cherries in a row. Called the premium rate number to see what our minimum prize was and ended up with Jovanovic.

Shame it never worked out, but I'm really glad we didn't lose money on him.

Hmm first time I saw Jovanovic play was in the WC - looked decent, looked a damn sight better than Voronin anyway. But he's been pony since he joined us though hasn't he?

It's ****ing bizarre. We've got Christ-knows how many internationals playing for us, but how many of 'em are any ****in good?! Strange.
