We kept the ball well, looked edgy after 25 or so mins because we couldn't score, then it was much better in the second half. That was a solid performance rather than a poor one, trust me.

I would say though that we have had periods like that in a lot of games and even the rare victories haven't lead to sustained good, winning performances. I'm glad we won and I (obviously) can't argue with your assessment of today's game I just don't think much should be read into it. The next few games could really decide the shape of the rest of the season (we'll probably draw both now leading to no clarity at all).

Thing is mate, we were normally very reliable playing that way before (being solid) and if this strategy can get us back on track and make the players believe more in themselves, then it's all good.

I think it's been more a question of confidence than anything else this season. Not sure why.

i went to a bar to watch arse vs. lfc in the cl a few years back, and two arse fans asked if they could take the 2 emty seats of our table. we said sure, and they sat down and we had some good banter. when they left, they paid our check for us, without telling us.

not at all as classy as coming to a liverpool forum and talking ****e about the fans who are trying to believe in their team, though. that's clearly the most gracious thing.

Mate trust me I know just how **** we have been or the impossible task ahead but I just thought perhaps it would be good to have a thread that we could keep bumping each time we win and give us all something postive to focus on throughout the rest of the season.

New Year, New start etc ... Aquilani i thought was excellent last night ... and when the rest of the team sync into his i am always available for a give an go in dangerous areas he single handly could revolutionize our play

Benny was sensational as always .. remember coming back from Footie with a Manc and a Spurs fan last year and they were laughing me off the train for suggesting he was one of the most dangerous players around and worthy of a start in any team .. The guy is pure class .. Also thought Insua was Man of the Match last night .. a classy classy player
