I hope he's carrying an slight injury because if he isn't then something is seriously up!
For crying out loud.......
...he is carrying a massive injury, and he is also p****d off that it will probably jeapardise his World Cup (which matters to him because he realises he is not going to win anything with us).

He should just have the operation and sod the rest.
The lad deserves a crack at the world cup whilst fit, it would probably be his last real chance.
SG has never been and will never be CM so rafa is 100% on the money for me on this one. and his big problem is going to be - and it may be here already - what is he going to do when that burst of pace that allows to rip through defences goes? his best position is behind the front man/men either centrally or on the right. the fact that he has himself convinced that he's a midfield general is one of his problems. FFS this feels like an argument from 3 years ago.
Not so sure I believe that he can't do it - actually in the last few years his positional play seems to have come on a lot. He does tend to want to make too many low odds passes but I think a run in the position would sort that out. I agree with others though that he is best in a more attacking role - be that centrally or on the right.

We need him where he can have the greatest impact on the game, last season clearly that was off Torres when we had Alonso who could dictate the play and get him the ball, we need someone in the centre of midfield who can dictate play, as we're set up at the moment Aquilani should be the one to do that but it's too early to say how effective he'll be in that role, so the team may have to evolve a little, we'll have to wait and see how things work out.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I was thinking that, there are times he needs to play a simpler ball.
