More Financial woes for Liverpool

MrsB posted an article today on this from the Daily Post.
RAFAEL BENITEZ will not receive a cash windfall this month – even if Liverpool succeed in selling some of their fringe players.
here's a snippit...
The cashflow situation isn’t being forced on Benitez by the club’s debt and as such shouldn’t be regarded as a sign the manager is facing the sack.
Instead, it has been decided that with a far greater number of players available in the summer, it makes financial sense to save any money raised from January sales until then.
That, though, is unlikely to please the Liverpool supporters, who believe quality reinforcements must be brought in this month with Benitez’s side struggling to make the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League.
However, i don't know the Daily Posts source.

I guess we'll know in a months time, unfortunately it's too late then! While I'd normally think things like this should be taken with a pinch of salt, given what happened in the summer, I'd say there's a good chance that it could be true, however the what happened in the summer also give more credability to stories like this!
If it is true I would be very worried about the future of the clubThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

That's one hell of a gamble though, we are in a fight for 4th place, if we don't make the Champions League, it's likely our summer budget will be cut.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostMrsB posted an article today on this from the Daily Post.

That does actually make financial sense.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostThat's one hell of a gamble though, we are in a fight for 4th place, if we don't make the Champions League, it's likely our summer budget will be cut.
That money may well be needed in the summer for other reasons if we dont qualify for the CL.
Anyway, Rafa has guaranteed it, so no problems.Oh I don't know.

we may also want to use that money early in the summer window due to the world cup and the inflated prices that go with it after the tournamentOriginally posted by dom9 View PostThat does actually make financial sense.

Both good points. And it's not as if selling those suggested we endanger the second half of the season really.Originally posted by red g View Postwe may also want to use that money early in the summer window due to the world cup and the inflated prices that go with it after the tournamentTrey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I had (perhaps naively) hoped that this summer was a one off due to the bank wanting more security to refinance the loans, and that was why we had a zero net spend. But raising more money through sales and then not being allowed to spend it takes things to another level!Originally posted by dom9 View PostWhat, even more worried than before? The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

5 years and millions spent on consultants to sell the club to these jokers......its nothing short of a ****ing disgraceOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostI had (perhaps naively) hoped that this summer was a one off due to the bank wanting more security to refinance the loans, and that was why we had a zero net spend. zero net spend. ****ing hell I wish they'd just give rafa £10 to spend on some pirate porn and then we'd never have to hear this net spend bollocks. we bought in two expensive signings and sold two players that wanted to leave. that is good business, but I guess if we'd spent £28m on johnson instead of the £17m folk would be happier? If we sold 10 of the reserve team for £10m and rafa spent the £10m on one player that would be net but that still not enough?Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI had (perhaps naively) hoped that this summer was a one off due to the bank wanting more security to refinance the loans, and that was why we had a zero net spend. don;t know what everyone is worrying about, sounds like good business to me, offload some unwanted faces, bring in a couple of needed ones..... if Rafa needed to fill a position then I am sure he would get the fund, maybe not for a £20 million player but a player good enough to get us 4th.... which is what we should expect from the second half of a poor season.
