In the event that say Liverpool draw their next three games and say Man City win their next three games, Liverpool would be 11 points behind the fourth place team.
that would mean Liverpool would have to make up those points and goal difference in just 15 games.
Would Rafa be the right person to do this in taking into consideration the current malaise and availability of key players?.
Would the board reckon that paying off Rafa now is a better bet than paying him off at the end of the season and then lsoing 20m+ champions league money ie 20+20 = 40m(speculative)?
I personally believe it is unlikely that a manager of a team that is in such a rut, can turn it around. There is no FA CUp, Carling Cup or CL in March to look forward too.
Just the losers cup as Ronny Whelan describes it, where losers play other losers to win a cup for losers...
My oown point of view is that not one of Rafa's teams have displayed enough consistency for him to remain as a Liverpool manager.
Liverpools success was built on consistency and not on good patches and bad patches evening them selves out to mediocrity and very occasional successes.
Personally If we lose against Stoke, and I was the owners and I would consider the risk of losing the 20m CL money next year and bite the bullet and fire Rafa.
