Liverpool have a core of genuine top quality players. Only the blind can't see that the rest are dross but in Reina we have a gem, so much so that he ranks all the way up at no.2 in the premiership and no. 2 in Spain. In saying that, I wonder how many feel that we missed out big time in signing 1 of the best keepers that ever graced the footballing world. Stand up Shay Given.

given is a good keeper,but is crap at kicking when under pressure something that doesn't faze reina.reina would be spains number 1 casillas was at another club instead of real madrid.

I agree. Given is a fantastic shot stopper, but lacks the other attributes needed to become a Reina-class goalkeeper. You mention his kicking, which is dreadful, but he's poor at coming for crosses too, and he does not 'boss' the defence much either.

your right but everyone is forgeting one major thing, pepe is and has been taught spanish style,were as shay is taught english/irish,they have all different programes that they work on if shays gk coach was spanish like peps then you would see a different style of keeping in shay

I look forward to the respones - seriously. - Like my post earlier in the thread, imo Reina is criminally underated by many non-lfc fans. tho.......the great man Andy Gray himself!!!, did say recently on sky that Reina was the best keeper in the world. Think it was following a man united game in europe and keys asked the dutch man ruud gullit who the best keeper was and suprise suprise he said the dutch man van der sar.

iirc gray popped up with Reina, and redknapp and souness agreed and given didn't come into it
