Talk about getting carried away here. He did well against Stoke granted, last night I thought he was merely meh to be honest. Not bad, but hardly setting the world alight, plus the Spurs goal should probably have been given and his shot at the end was pants.

I like his attitude but he isn't a good player.

He is what youd expect - he was never signed to be 'first choice' - that is for agger/carragher/skrtel to fight for - he iis there to act as cover to those three, and to give us an aerial presence in games that we require him.

He has done is job so far - and as shaggy says, he could be come a bit of cult hero ala Igor, Erik Meijer, even sissoko to some exent. - And at times like these, it's those random players like kyriakos that the club on the pitch, and for us fans off the pitch need. He has stepped up to the plate in the last two games.

          All hail the Greek

Aren't Tottenham one of the big teams these days? Sky keep telling me so it must be true. "Fantastic squad, much better than Liverpool" (Copyright P Merson 2010).

He was excellent last night and made Crouch look very, very ordinary. Crouch hardly won anything against him in the air, which the commentators seemed reluctant to mention, strangely.

After Crouch's poor show, perhaps the Rafa-baiters in the media will now stop querying why we let him go. Same goes for Keane who came on and I can't recall him touching the ball once

To be honest I think the really impressive thing about yesterdays game was how quiet Modric and Defoe were. Kyrgiakos and Skrtel are decent enough in the air but I was surprised with how well the defensive unit (including Lucas and Mascherano) dealt with the rest of their play. Crouch was generally well marshalled but he still made a few good flick ons/knock downs but we were first to them each time.

I still find it odd that any team with Crouch in it seems to revert to longer aerial balls when he is actually pretty decent on the deck and last night certainly the aerial route always looked a bad choice for Spurs.

He ain't no Sami, thats for sure. But to his credit he gives 110% everytime and is brutal in the air - what more could you ask?

Is it Sky that keep telling you that or your spurs supporting mates?

They get good press because they have plenty of English at the club but truth is that they have wasted alot of money on fairly average players. Their squad is expensively assembled but barring 1 or 2 players its mainly full of midtable players.

Gomes, Bassong, Bale, Corluka (lazy), King (injuries), Jenas, Palacios, Kranjaer, Crouch, Keane,Hutton, Pav, Giovani etc etc

I wouldn't take any of them in of them in our first team. None of those players are good enough to play in the first team of a top 4 team

I would take Lennon,Modric and Defoe but even Defoe struggles to score against good defences. This is a team that failed to score at home against Wolves and Hull. I didnt even think that was possible

You certainly wouldn't wanna mess with the fella. I thought he & Skrtel looked like the bad guys from an 80's B movie!

there's something raw and visceral about this guy.

No nonsense, kill the striker to win the ball good old fashioned type of centre half.

did anyone notice how crouchy was flicking on almost every header he won whereas when he played for us it was all chest it down and lay it off sort of business.

I thought Spurs went for the aerial route as the Palacious/Jenas axis in the centre of midfield offered nothing constructive whatsoever and were frankly eaten up by Lucas and Mascherano.

The Mirror says we're trying to buy Senderos. I certainly wouldn't ask for that.

That's definitely part of it but they played both Kranjcar and Modric in narrow wide positions which should have given them more creativity - certainly if you believe people who are mortally offended we failed to buy either.

This thread is well deserved, I really like the guy and have done since he made a winning debut against Bloton at the Reebok where I liked his qualities.

He has a presence about himand will go through a briick wall to win the ball, fancy football and pace are not his game but what he brings for 1.5million is a wealth of experience and something different then any of our other centre backs.

I think he will get better as well as he adjusts to the players and tactics.

It makes me laugh the way some thought he ws rubbish after a couple of games.

                              Another inspired signing by Rafa.

To be far, Kranjcar was a bargain. I thought it was £1.5m, but wiki say £2.5m. Either way, about the price of a Voronin.
