AbsobloodylutelyOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostI would be very, very depressed and I think it'd make us look rather foolish. From the Kop's public enemy number one, with 45,000 at Anfield gleefully chanting '**** off Mourinho' one minute, and the next minute getting giddy about him and calling him our saviour.
I understand why people think they'd like him here, but the prospect makes me feel ill.

Sorry.
Don't apologise. 98% of the rest of the thread is far, far worse..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

No, I think that's wrong and, since it doesn't apply to you, you're hardly qualified to make the claim.Originally posted by Mike View PostA lot of fans dislike mourinho, yes. In no time he would win those people over.
My nephew virtually suspended his support of Chelsea despite the success Mourinho brought them because he reached the point where he couldn't stand the way Mourinho behaved. Of course he was only about 11 at the time so maybe his principles hadn't yet been knocked out of him..

one of my best mates stopped supporting chelsea cos of mourinho. the whole chelsea thing turned him off football actually.Originally posted by Reece View PostI also heard a few Chelsea fans during Mourinho state their dislike of him.
i just really wonder how we'd all feel if we actually won the league under him. what if we became consistent challengers and winners? if we got up to 21 or 22 league titles in a few years? how long would the hatred last? what if he carried himself differently because of who we are? is he capable/cunning enough to publicly buy into our history/traditions etc... he was brash and offensive cos at the time chelsea as a concept were brash and vulgar so they were a perfect match.
but now? he's a bit older, he's not at one of the serious glamour clubs and liverpool could be on the way into longterm mediocrity. he has the ego - just like rafa - to want to be seen as a saviour. yeah we need money whoever manages us - and i really want rafa to turn us around - but i think some fans are attempting to apply a logic and almost a morality to football that doesn't really exist. we all want billionaires to take us over, a "nice" billionaire if possible ffs, but oh no we don't want a rude arrogant manager - that's just not the liverpool way

I just think that from every point of view Mourinho would be the wrong move. He has had great success but when given a base of greater pulling power than his immediate competitors in the league, he has a terrible record with young players, has seemingly little interest in building a club long term and he seems to find it impossible to not act like a complete **** when a camera is on him. Given our lack of finances we can't give him the platform he wants. I would suggest there is very little chance he would come here any way.
I do feel that if he bought success a lot of fans would alter their opinions and become on his side. This in itself would be sad to me. Much like the threads on here after ever less than stellar performance ripping into players and the manager."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

This thread has lost a post or 30. People, please, I'm asking nicely, quit it with the non-English stuff in this forum, and generally stop messing about as much in it too. At that volume its just spam.
As for Mourinho...... ambivalent. Agnostic. I don't want the circus. I'm scared of who we might end with instead however......I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

He would be backed of course.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWhat would happen with regards to the 'back the manager' theory and notion, if Mourinho took the job?
But it is never going to happen so can we just concentrate on backing our real Manager."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

I'd turn my coat and apply for a lifetime membership to MUFC. Seriously though, I doubt it the owners will consider Mourihno for the job, knowing the history we have against him. There's no way he'll come here. For you to get a more representative view of how popular or not Mourihno is at this club, try to take samples from different forums and come up with aggregated results. I think it would be close to 70-30 against.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWhat would happen with regards to the 'back the manager' theory and notion, if Mourinho took the job?
