Tevez to be absent for Manchester City game?

Tevez set to miss crunch Liverpool clash after partner's pregnancy hits problems
Published 11:01 14/02/10 By David Anderson

Carlos Tevez is a doubt for next Sunday's Champions League crunch with Liverpool after making a trans-Atlantic mercy dash to Argentina to be by the side of his expecting partner.

Her pregnancy has run into problems just weeks before she is due to give birth and Manchester City have granted Tevez indefinite compassionate leave to be with her.

The Argentina striker jetted off from Manchester on Saturday and is not expected back for tomorrow's crunch league clash with Stoke at the Britannia.

Tevez could also miss City's showdown with Champions League rivals Liverpool at Eastlands on Sunday and the Blues have told him to take as much time as he needs.

City sorely missed their 19-goal top scorer in their disappointing 1-1 FA Cup draw against Stoke and boss Roberto Mancini said: "There is a family problem and I don't know how long he will stay.

"I don't think Carlos can come back for Tuesday. I don't think he can play. I hope he can recover some time. I hope so, but it's difficult."

Yeah, i like Tevez, seems like a decent lad and the way he ****ed the mancs over is to be admired and, in all honesty, probably deserves a knighthood.

But i hope he has to stay in Argentina for the next week.

One other thing that came to mind - compare Mancini's stance on this, with Rafa's on Alonso, when he wanted to be with his partner for the birth of their child.

Slaughter me if you want, and the usual suspects obviously will, but this paints as emphatic a picture as anything, as to why people question how Rafa deals with his players as PEOPLE.

Sometimes seeing them as chess pieces or emotionless cogs in a machine, isnt the right way of looking at it. Ultimately, that's what cost us the services of Xabi Alonso.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Well, one of the usual suspects says you're wrong. End of story.

No idea what you're on about, but i knew confidently enough to bet my life on it, that you wouldnt be able to resist replying

It's true though, obviously you'll never admit it, because in your mind, Rafa's the epitome of perfection and he'd never get anything wrong - but back in the real world most people realise he's human and made a mess of the Alonso thing. Not just from a footballing point of view, but also from a human one.

I think Alonso acted like a cry baby and wanted out. Rafa tried to keep him but he had his mind up. Why cry over spilt milk mate?

I'm not going through tonnes of posts about it, but the point was, spilt milk or not, Rafa initially made a pig's ear of it. Trying to stop someone attending the birth of their first born, is bordering on lunacy. Asking them to is maybe worth a stab but in the obvious event of them saying no to the request, the thing to do is accept it and not get ****ed off with the player over it.

At the end of the day we don't really know what happened, so I'll refrain speculating on things when things can be distorted.

Not anything really wrong with that viewpoint mate, but the reality is that probably 95% of what's said on here isnt from a solidly informed position, and is therefore speculation too. So why stop now?

I think the situation with Xabi's baby thing probably damaged their relationship but Rafa trying to sell Xabi after he'd had an ordinary year on the pitch probably did more damage IMO.

Remind me though please someone, but was it not an important CL match the Xabi wanted to miss?
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Last 16 against Inter two years ago.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Bit harsh on Rafa that, It states that Tevez's partner has pregnancy complications, now that doesn't sound good to me. She is also half way around the world. Who would try to stop him going to her? not Mancini and also I honestly don't think Rafa would either.
