i thought he played well, not brilliant mind, just better than some of the others, he put in his shift, he was always avaliable for the ball, tried to put crosses in, was taking players on. more than decent performanceOriginally posted by Matt View PostStream must have been really bad if Kuyt was a positive for you

I fully agree with this, but the worry is that while he should be gradually acclimatising and improving, he's getting worse.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI think this season is a write off for Aquilani, I'm not going to judge him until next season, he's not fully fit and hasn't had a preseason behind him, so is playing catch up. IMO he should use this season to get used to the pace and physical nature of the English game, and some idea of the way he needs to play.
We can then judge him next season
Re the Kuyt debate, i thought he was very poor myself.
Mascher was good, as were the defence, who dealt with what little they had to. Riera and Kuyt were nearly invisible, Stevie was average, N'Gog was impressive and Babel was MOTM. Pacheco did a decent job and a nice assist for the kid. Delighted for him & N'Gog.

They obviously know how to play with tempo, we've done it many times, last season was good.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostDire pitiful display, completely devoid of tempo or attacking thrust. Embarrassing.
Caution and negativity has flowed through this team like a disease for so long, that they dont even know how to play with tempo, move the ball quickly and create openings.
Woefully poor although i'm sure there'll be apologists ready to tell us that it's acceptable or good enough, because the opposition packed their defence...like the majority of visiting teams to Anfield will do.
I really think LFC suffers in the same way as England, the expectations are massive, and i'm afraid it has an effect, too many normally good players play poorly too often, but against top opposition we generally turn up and play well as there is less pressure. imo.
It's when we're expected to roll over an opponent that we seem to suffer.

When someone turns up and defends against, us, Man U or Chelsea and get battered, you call them spineless. Just batter them.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostWhat do people expect against a team with no intent of attacking? It was always going to be tough, they are not that bad a team.

Originally posted by Shaggy View PostFair play to Babel, that was much much better. Riera was so poor. Babel's earned a start against City IMO.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I know what you're saying and I do tend to agree, but we've literally seen nothing positive from him - at all. I think he showed glimpses of real quality in his earliest cameos, but yeah, nothing since.Originally posted by Rich View PostI know what you're saying and I do tend to agree, but we've literally seen nothing positive from him - at all. I dont think expecting to create a few chances against Unirea at home, is an example of overly high expectations.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostThey obviously know how to play with tempo, we've done it many times, last season was good.

Or maybe it is, and our standards have dropped into the toilet.
