Unfortunately the writer of those two words has a pathological dislike of Lucas and can't bring himself to give him due praise. It was a brilliant pass and the goal simply wouldn't have happened without it. As he was in the more defensive role than Gerrard it was inevitable he wouldn't get forward too much, but he still managed to put in a good shift for 90 minutes whereas Gerrard faded badly in the second half. I would say he shaded it as man of the match from Mascherano

Yes, i do.Originally posted by Daffy Duck View PostDid anyone else think that bodycheck on Lucas after which Kalinić nearly scored should have been a foul? I mean, come on, the guy got bulldozed from behind his back like it was a hockey match
If Lucas had been asleep there wouldn't have been the need for a barge from behind, he'd have just nicked it off him cleanly. imo.Originally posted by Operation View PostNo, I thought Lucas went to sleep.

Hardly the perfect pass, we just got lucky with what happened afterwards.Originally posted by Scratch View PostAnd therefore, by your own logic, it was played at the perfect pace to get it through the gap...if he'd hit it softer, it wouldn't have made it, the chance would have petered out and we wouldn't have scored. Perfect pass in the situation at the time. Well played Lucas.
It was a good attempt at playing a nearly-impossible ball. It was played with too much pace for Torres, but any less pace and it probably wouldnt have got through. Bearing that in mind, it was a very ambitious pass that needed to be exactly precise, and anyone would've found it hard to execute perfectly. He tried it though, and fair enough to him, because trying difficult passes is exactly what he could be doing more of. And it did lead to the goal, albeit indirectly, but without the pass, we wouldnt have scored in that situation.

That poll could only be more flawed & farcical if it was just you voting
I dont think it was an 'impossible' pass to get right, just very very difficult, with no margin for error whatsoever. You could argue that the most sensible thing to do would've been keep the ball and play it simple, but i think that you do sometimes need to do the more difficult thing, in order to get the best reward. 9 times out of 10, it might not come off and lead to anything, but when it does, then it's happy days.Originally posted by Operation View PostOr the wrong pass to make, the wrong choice, that just happened to go our way as the ball bounced out of the tackle. If it could only be over hit, or intercepted, then surely the pass wasn't on

Another bizarrely irrational post. 'Pathalogical dislike'
That's why i sing his name at the matches, because i'm pathalogical in my 'dislike' of him
Credit to you though, for not being utterly OTT with your viewpoint and not putting 'pathalogical hatred'

Criticising him?Originally posted by Reece View PostSo basically me posting in this thread that I thought Lucas played a good pass for Torres' goal has resulted in the usual suspects finding cause to criticise him.

Or just expressing a view that the pass was hit too hard for Torres to latch onto.
How dare we level such vicious and heinous criticisms at the poor lad

Actually I spelt it correctly - "pathological" - and if I could get proof that you sing Lucas's name at matches (while always, but always slagging him off on this forum) I'll show my arse in Lewis's windowOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostHardly the perfect pass, we just got lucky with what happened afterwards.
