Is This The Reason Why G&H will not sell...

Could it be that they are just waiting for the time to come when we start to sell our own tv deals?

They would start to make a massive return on their investment if this were to happen, in proportion to what Madrid make. I guess they would need to sign a big name each year to get the subscribers, and we may even get our new stadium.

But this seems to me to be the money maker, not the stadium.

But should we sell out the rest of the league to get rich?

I prefer the collective contracts, as long as the deal is weighted toward the teams with larger viewership. But perhaps its the only way to bridge the financial gap, as the revenue figures show how far behind we are, despite our fan base

Oh, and to add... Juventus building a new 41,000 seater stadium... Doesnt that seem small?

The only way the league can survive IMO

The Spanish appear to be surviving. I don't agree with it though.
        Oh I don't know.

This is a massive reason why both G&H, and the Glazers too, have bought into PL clubs, IMO.

It's all only a potential future prospect at the moment here in england, but there might well be more and more call for this in the future. This is indeed the massively lucrative golden ticket that would've made Malcolm Glazer's eyes light up, and those two of Hicks and Gillett.

It'd be disasterous for the smaller clubs, but for United and us in particular, this would equal absolute jackpot, what with out massive fanbases in the far east and Asia.

I may be wrong, but i think it'd only be the foreign tv rights that would be sold like this, rather than domestically. Otherwise, if it happened domestically, you could arguably have Sky buying Liverpool and Man Utd's tv rights, and for example ESPN buying Arsenal's - so you'd get different games broadcast on numerous different channels. And what would happen when Arsenal play United, who would broadcast it? Or would the rights be sold as home game packages? Complicated.

Part of me thinks it couldnt happen here, because it'd be the end of the small clubs; but another part of me thinks that, due to the enormous monies it'd generate for the big clubs, it must surely be inevitable.

The PL would obviously fight tooth and nail against it though, as it'd reduce their revenues enormously.

I hope it doesn't happen, but there is no doubt that the beef barrens will be licking the steak sauce from their lips as we type.

it would be very lucrative for teams like ourselves, united, chelsea and to some extent arsenal.

But for teams like wigan and wolves, who's going to pay them £30m a season for their rights ?

Our league is a really good league because although we have a big four, there are other teams who are capable of beating the big four on any given day and that's what makes it exciting.

The run in for the fourth place spot is just as exciting as who will end up champions. Unfortunately for us, we're the former not the latter.

I'd say this is almost 100% the reason.

I can't see this happening, the league would require 14 clubs to vote in favour of it and that will never happen.

The Italian league currently sell their TV deals individually but they are changing to a joint TV like the Premier League, they think this is the only way they can make the league stronger and compete with the english teams in europe.

La Liga is like the Socttish prem but with more glamour and better players, they have the 2 richest teams in the world but no other spanish club is in the top 20...

In the past 25 years there have only been 4 times when Real Madrid or Barcelona have not won the league and two of those were Rafa at Valencia.

In those 25 years when Barcelona or Real Madrid did win the league, in 15 of those years the other team finished in the top 3, so theyc ompletely dominate the league.

The other top 2 teams in Spain are probably Sevilla and Valencia and they are both constantly selling their best players to Madrid and Barcelona, Dani Alves, Sergio Ramos, Albiol and Seydou Keita were all signed by Madrid or Barca from Sevilla or Valcencia - How often does a player transfer between a top 4 club in the prem?

As I said before Barca and Madrid are the richest clubs in the world but no other spanish clubs make it into the top 20.

undoubtedly the reason why glazers and cowboys are involved.

however i cant see it happening within the uk.

also imagine if Rangers and Celtic could sell there own rights. Celtic would coin it in am sure rangers would make a fair amount too.

The rest would turn to **** though.

I seem to remember there were reports that was one of the main reason the Glazers, bought the scum, I'd imagine that Hicks and Gillett have similar ideas
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Re Juve - Them and Torino have always had problems filling the Delle Alpe, had a quick look and their average attendance since they moved into it in 1990 has not got anywhere near the near 70,000 capacity - its not even broken 40,000 in the last ten years. I remember reading something about how they even considered relocating the club south as they seemed to have more fans from southern Italy. Nuts.
