Because of the above, I dont think that gerrard will be here next season as I dont think he believes in what rafas doing.

If gerrard goes then im certain torres will probably leave too because after gerrard there isnt anyone anywhere near his playing level. Why would he want to stay and be surrounded by **** like kuyt and lucas ? The simple answer is that he wont and he will be off too.

If those two go then other 'worldies' like masher and even reina might start asking questions of themselves.

The outcome that I believe to be likely is that gerrard, torres and masher will be off in the summer and rafa will be handed a large transfer kitty of well over £100m.

But the question is how many of us would want to hand rafa a transfer kitty of £100m + given that his judgement on players like keane and aquilani and babel has been very suspect ?

**** me thats one depressing situation -

for me - i'm sorry, it shouldn't get to this - the manager should normally be the main one but right now, i'd prefer a new manager and keep torres/gerrard/mascherano, than to keep benitez and lose the only 3 outfield players worth watching

In a totally awful team performance Gerrard yet again was shockingly bad. His game has completely gone to pot this season and he's only in the team on reputation. I can't remember a single game this season when he's played well.

He's not alone though, the entire midfield 5 was terrible so Torres was completely isolated. Six or seven of that team could be dropped for the Portsmouth game and they couldn't argue with it.

It's not losing that gets to me, but the fact that there was a complete lack of passion and pride. We only played with any urgency in the last twenty minutes but even then couldn't string two passes together.

What's even worse is that at this rate, unless we miraculously go on a winning run, I wouldn't be surprised to see Everton overtake us - 7 points behind I believe with a game in hand.

ever wonder how many people involved with the 1st team genuinely hate each other?

It really is that bad. I think they'll finish above us.

our biggest problems on the pitch is our movement off the ball and our desire to win.

just take last nights game for instance... everytime one of our players was on the ball who was coming short for a pass or making them selves available for the pass?? nobody! thats who! each player is just leaving it to the other to do, they are so ****ing lazy and un-interested its disgusting!

i watched gerrard last night stroll away from carragher not even looking leaving him under pressure on the ball instead of offering him an option. its so lazy!

we arent winning any first or second balls, we are last to everything and generally lack any team play whatsoever.

god its depressingly obvious our flaws on the pitch... why arent these overpaid fairies realising what they are doing wrong? and also rafa for not spotting it and sorting it out.

But then that's what a lot of us think of when we think of Rafa kind of players, don't we? Kuyt being the obvious example, picked game after game after game after game after game.
Why single Kuyt out? At least he works hard and has actually played well at times this season. Gerrard, on the other hand, offers nothing game in, game out, but keeps getting picked. Any player with a lesser reputation would have been benched weeks ago.

Now we have a team which cant string 2 passes together, has no urgency or movement and plays at a pace which is so slow it allows the oposition to get back into position each and every time.

**** knows whats happened but each and everyone of the players and backroom staff need to be accountable for the shower that we have continually served up this season.
Actually, we played very poorly there last season and drew 1-1

Opposing teams know that we cant break them down, we cant out battle them or we cant outthink them.

We have no threat from anywhere other than the front two and they will only be effective if someone can get the ball to them. Neither lucas nor masherano are good enough offensively to pick a decent pass and our wide players will never run past their fullbacks.

The whole of the game is literally played in front of the midfield and defence of the opposition so where's the threat ?

He should be playing aquilani every match instead of lucas, he should be playing maxi where kuyt is and babel should start on the left. At least we have someone who can pass the ball from the middle and someone on the left who can run and scare defenders (even though he doesnt deliver).

Teams dont like to play against pace and we had absolutely none of it.

Maxi is slow. Riera isn't quick. Yossi is ace but isn't quick. Kuyt isn't particularly quick. The only pace we have out wide is Babel, and he doesn't play. The best crossers f the ball we have are defenders (fabio/johnson). Not surprising we don't give our one good stirker good service.

Would a new manager get that £100m though? Or would it go to pay off some debt. Cos I'm guesssing mainly the latter.

Cannot help but feel that these are the last throws of a dying man at the mo.
                      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

the other thing mate is that we dont get enough players into the box when a cross does come in. We dont commit enough players to attack whereas the likes of utd and arsenal have 4 or five men waiting for the ball in the box whereas we have torres and gerrard is outside somewhere.

                        It just doesnt work.

Aye, it is proper watershed/armageddon time. Utterly heartbreaking.

Aye, sadly so. Even tho he is one of may favourite players.

Is the only way out I see sadly. To be honest, itll be hard not to cry if/when Rafa gets the boot.

Aye, noone has picked on me yet either. FFS I'm off to Barbados this week, I'm sposed to be all excited & elated, not crushed & defeated.
Sorry to make your week even worse, but I went to Barbados a couple of years ago and thought it was very over-rated and disappointing. A lot of it's a bit run down and tatty and at night the tree frogs constant calling will drive you completely nuts

Yes the goal was his fault & yes he can be frustrating, but Kuyt (& Lucas) are the only players who come short & look for the pass. Unfortunatley Kuyt is 100MPH in the brain dept & is always one step to far ahead of his feet, & invariably mis-controls or rushes his next pass. That said at the moment i would have 10 Kuyt's or lucas' in the side showing a bit of pride & commitment, than the rest of the motley crew.

What amazes me is that Rafa picked:

Pepe Reina International & should be his countries no1
                              Jamie Carragher International, (albeit retired)
                              Sotirios Kyrgiakos International Captain
                              Emiliano Insua International
                              Steven Gerrard WORLD CLASS
                              Lucas Leiva International
                              Javier Mascherano International Captain
                              Dirk Kuyt International
                              Fernando Torres WORLD CLASS
                              Yossi Benayoun International Captain
                              Rodriguez Maxi International
                              Substitutes
                              Diego Cavalieri
                              Glen Johnson International
                              Daniel Agger International
                              Albert Riera International
                              Alberto Aquilani International
                              David Ngog
                              Ryan Babel International

I was just refering to last seasons team which actually looked a threat and this seasons which has been worked out and stopped from playing

I do think that Wigan were better at the back than this one though, not that you would notice from last night
