Putting woy in isnt an insult to the managers of the past we are going a little ott with sayings like that.

what woy is a safe pair of hands however it can show a lack of ambition he wouldnt be my first choice but he may end up being the right choice for the situation we are in.

The sadness isnt that woy is the manager but the situation that leads to that. It shouldnt mean woy shouldnt have our support. it means we need to support him and still show our displeasure to the board and owners.
Sadness could be that Woy proves to be as uninspiring a choice of manager to certain players as it does to most of us, the messages we get from the appointment wont be lost on the players either, the message being that he's the right man for the state of limbo Lfc is in, and for who knows how long, the club being unable to appoint a top manager or invest properly in the squad, which is what has been highlighted as necessary by the players too.

Sadness; could just be about to get worse if this appointment go's ahead, and i think Kenny see's it plain as day too....he's hanging his hopes on our big two players staying, and the best way to make that happen till we can get sold, he knows the money recieved if they go will be soaked up by the bank, it'll be a big hit for the team, and with other players maybe going...and the same circumstances are applied to the majority of the cash raised for them, well, it's not a pretty thought.

Agreed, I can't see Hodgson dissuading our best players from abandoning ship. We need someone who the players would be inspired by and want to play for. No disrespect to Roy Hodgson he seems to be a very nice fella, just not right for us.

Come on if you were playing for LFC and you had Barca, Real, Inter and whoever after you and we just appointed Woy as manager what would you do? I would have to seriously consider it.

Work with Jose, Rafa, play in the best team in world football. Or play for uncle Woy who has won **** all. Its a no brainer

              Liverpool chiefs pass on Pellegrini
              22.06.10 | tribalfootball.com

Liverpool have passed on the prospect of Manuel Pellegrini becoming new manager.

The News of the World says chief executive Christian Purslow and Kenny Dalglish had talks with former Real Madrid coach Pellegrini last week.

But they were not hugely impressed by the Chilean, who was replaced at the Bernabeu by Jose Mourinho last month.

They took that from the Bascombe story which is posted earlier in this thread (saturday night)

And well done to King Kenny if its true he's fighting his corner. Hodgsons never won nothing, he's totally right to oppose his appointment. Hopefully hodgson will see that he isn't wanted and not take it

As most of us. Let's hope Hodgson (I certainly wish him the best) will show and pursue an interest for Englang post and do the right thing and stay away from LFC.

NEXT LIVERPOOL MANAGER ODDS SHOW TWO-HORSE RACE BETWEEN HODGSON AND PELLEGRINI

looks like we're finally getting close to some sort of resolution and figure out who gets the nod for the Next Liverpool Manager job. It has been a pretty interesting weekend for all observers and the betting markets have heated up again and prices have shifted somewhat dramatically.

It now appears as though Kenny Dalglish is effectively out of the running. He had been trading as low as 3.5 on Betfair a few weeks ago and is now available at a best price of 15.5 to get the job as Rafa Benitez's replacement.

Manuel Pellegrini emerged on the scene last week with his price dropping dramatically from 90/1 to 4/1 with some major bookmakers. The former Real Madrid man has captured the attention of many Kop faithful and he looks to have a groundswell of support around him. The general concensus seems to be "I hadn't really thought of him for the job but, now that you mention it, he seems like he'd do a better job than most."

I think Pellegrini didn't get a fair shake at Real Madrid and he is a talented manager who can get the best of the type of players that Liverpool want playing at the club. You'll find Pellegrini priced at around 5.0 and that's a little higher than he was at during his lowest points last week.

The dramatic news is that Roy Hodgson has effectively dropped to below even money and is now priced at odds-on to be named next Liverpool manager. You'll find him trading at around 1.88 or so and I had seen him as low as 1.7 over the weekend. This may have something to do with the race boiling down to just two contenders in lieu of three or four.

As it stands right now Roy Hodgson looks like the favourite, but Liverpool fans don't seem too inspired by him. There's also a part of me that thinks Hodgson would have already been appointed by now if he was going to take over.

The other thing to consider is that Pellegrini is unemployed while Hodgson has Muhhamad Al-Fayed actively trying to keep him at the club. Maybe Woy feels as though he has unfinished business at Fulham and that's why I'd be backing Pellegrini in this one.
Tony Evans also from The Times take on Purslow and Dalglish.

Kenny Dalglish: The King turned kingmaker at Liverpool

                                Analysis: Tony Evans Football Editor

The gruff Glaswegian growl cut through the chatter in an incongruously upmarket London bar: “You’re either inside the tent p**sing out, or outside the tent p**sing in. Where are you?”

This was Kenny Dalglish responding to concerns that his return to Liverpool in an ambassadorial role last summer appeared to give a seal of approval to the owners. He made it clear that he was back at Anfield because he could help. He did, however, on that autumn day, endorse the role of Christian Purslow, the managing director, when questions were raised about the former equity dealer’s credentials.

Purslow is a friend, yet Dalglish will not stand idly by and watch him appoint Roy Hodgson as manager of Liverpool. Hodgson is another friend, but there are bigger matters at stake here for the Scot than personal relationships.

Dalglish does not believe the Fulham manager is the right man for the job. Purslow has the power to push the appointment through, but dare he? It is one thing to defeat Rafael Benítez after a dreadful season, quite another to take on the man who defers only to Bill Shankly as the club’s iconic figure.

Dalglish outside the tent is unthinkable. The man the Kop calls “The King” could bring torrents to bear that would wash Purslow’s entire campsite away.
