I am becoming more convinced a Sky sabbatical & trying to ingore football is a good strategy next season. Have a very busy & eventful year planned, so it would be as good a time as any...

Yeah Hodgson is going to guide us to top four while 15 of the 19 opposition clubs continue to outspend us year on year.

****ing hell - how deluded are some of our fans?

Wonder what the criteria was the last time we were looking for a manager.... and I wonder what the criteria is this time.

You mean all the many fans on here that are rejoicing at the news and proclaiming that we'll finish top 4?

Well If Hodgson is to be our new manager I'll give him every chance and support from the start. I just want Pellegrini cos he seems to be a more-attack minded coach and has been at way bigger clubs than Fulham.

But it doesn't help alleviate my underlying feeling of total disappointment and fear that it means no new investment and no new owners and no new stadium and no big signings for the foreseeable future. Obviously he can't be a total chump/yes man to owners but it's hard to escape the sense of downgrading - it's more a step down for us than a step up for him.

I have this horrible feeling that we are getting Uncle Woy & that the club are waiting for todays Season Ticket Renewal deadline to pass before making an announcement so as not to adversely affect the number of renewals.

When does that pass? You could be onto something there, it's more believable than some Sheik buying the club and appointing Hiddink with Mourinho as his assistant.

So whats the options? Mope and moan for another 12 months or give him or whoever comes in full backing and wait to see what happens results wise.

Its way too early to say whats going to happen, we don't know who the manager will be, we don't know which players want out regardless of Rafa going and which players want CL football.

By the first league game of the season we'll have a better of idea whether we can expect to be knocking around mid table or challenging for top 4 when the squad is sorted. If Torres, Gerrard, Masher, Reina, Carra, Agger, Johnson and Spearing have left the building then we are officially ****ED. Even then a manager might be able to get the rest of the players to play above themselves, it does happen you know.

Lets not forget a few players will be leaving because we're not in the CL and Rafa did kind of make a personal guarantee we would qualify. Something conveinently forgotten recently in the Rafa lovein.

I don't understand why so many are negative bout Hodgson. The fact is that he HAS improved everyone of Fulham's players and has improved the team coherence, balance etc. I agree he has little recent experience of handling 'big ego' players or spending large amounts of money, but that is also true for most of the other names that are mentioned. I agree he failed at Blackburn, but he has succeeded in a lot of places that why is Blackburn particularly relevant?

I would be prepared to bet that, if (a) he became our new manager and (b) we lost Masch, Yossi but none of the other first 11 and (c) we bought no one significant, Hodgson would still get us back in the top four and on good cup runs THIS COMING SEASON. After last season that would be good enough for me for the time being.

personally for me its not about Roy, its the lack of ambition shown by the club in not bringing in a bigger name. it just stinks of steadying the ship and there is noo takeover on the horizon.

I actually think he will do a decent job btw.
