At one point he didn't bother to try to reach a pass from Mascher, and didn't bother to turn round and acknowledge him either. His head is always down. At the very least if he is going to be like that he shouldn't be captain in my opinion. Because he is such a good player we expect more from him.
Gerrards clearly not fit, he can't even sprint anymore

Fair play, i wasnt aware of that.

He pretty much always speaks to the tv reporter after the game though, be it Sky, BBC, ESPN or whoever. He didnt last night, which is out of the ordinary.

You might well be right there mate. It's just so frustrating to see the guy who has been our inspiration on so many occasions looks so fed up.

I am trying not to be too harsh to him, and like I said before he wasn't the only poor one, but he looks so disinterested. Because of what he has done in the past maybe we expect too much. I mean, I don't expect the likes of Lucas or Kuyt to do anything really!

True but I wouldnt want to speak to anyone after that shocker either atleast not within minutes of walking off the park anyway.

But I saw the press conference video. He can keep trying to be positive but nothing is going to change unless he grows a set and rest Gerrard, Kuyt and Lucas. We need pace and flair not unfit, slow and defensive

He needed an operation but Torres was injured so he had to play on and now its too late with World Cup coming up and he's pissed off coz he knows he cant run anymore. Thats my theory anyway

as for carra, he was hit but has come righ back into form of last few months. not top form but good form.

i feel sorry for them both having htis shower of pish we call our squad to -play with. they both deserve better. it is so demoralising to see so for them it must be 10 times as bad.
has stevie really been injured for the past 2 months now? he's been diabolical in that time. whatever the reason, THIS impacts our on the field performances more than rafa. rafa's tactics look the same as last season. so what's different?

our squad isnt that different from last season. even torres was out last season for a massive chunk. arguably ngog and kuyt have been better stand-ins this season than last for him too in terms of goals and impact.

so what is so much worse on the field? alonso loss for sure but it really comes down to the impact of stevie and carra for me. they have been average (for them) at best. That is a massive, massive blow to our performances.

simply, our defence was shambolic at the start of the season and now our attack has no teeth whatsoever. carra's form and stevie's form relate directly to those problems. that is our on the pitch problem and has cost us 10-15 points in my view. not tactics. those same tactics have served us well and enabled us to overachieve in recent seasons.

It can't all blamed on rafa im afraid. thats completely naieve. the squad was good enough last season for 2nd place.

sacking rafa, with the owners and prospects we have, is going to plunge us into far more trouble than we're in now. we wont appreciate what we have until he's gone.

liverpool is a big job and our best bet would probably be o'neil. but i have big reservations about him and am convinced he's a step back from rafa. he's just not in rafa's league in my view. are real and juve knocking on his door? he's a desperate option for those hoping he can inspire this current squad to great things. well folks, he's tactically naieve and won't be winning us titles or cups. every team he has had plays in the same way which is not what it takes in the CL. 4th in the league probably but bar this season, which i blame our local lads for more than rafa, we've done that and more. i think city too now will kick on and be untouchable with his simple tactics.

stevie should probably go now. he's no leader and he's sulking like a kid far too often. he's a huge drain on the team nowadays because of that. if he doesnt want to lead us then thats fine. he's not bigger than the club.

clearly we need the funds from that to be ploughed into the team which is another matter entirely... i hope both those yank ******* ****s dont wake up this morning.

Think you might be right. He's been going at half pace for longer than I care to remember. It's not been right since (and possibly before) he got thrown on against Birmingham in the first half and was probably half fit at best.

As captain he obviously wants to play and desperately doesn't want to miss the rest of the season but really, he'd be better off getting himself sorted.

Gerrard seemed fit enough captaining England the other week.
He is fine physically (imo) he is sulking because of where we are in the league, Rafa needs to decided if he's got the bollocks to ship him out like Wenger did with Henry
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

i think that there is an element of truth to this.

We have seen rafa become more and more cautious since our poor form hence the selections of kuyt, lucas and rodriguez ahead of babel, aquilani and riera or benayoun.

Instead of coming our fighting we seem to dig out trenches deeper and just settle further and further into them.

What we need against Pompey is a good old fashioned team huddle to get the crowd on side from the off.

three points would do for me.

Team spirit should be cemented within the dressing room over the space of years not five minutes before kick off on a Saturday afternoon.

Come on rafa, grow a pair of bollocks, give aquilani, babel and benayoun a start. Rest lucas and kuyt who really deserve a break for their efforts this season.

we should be looking to score 5 goals vs pompey instead of scraping a one nil win.

What we need is a good convincing win. They can bum each other in the dressing room afterwards for all I care.

**** Lucas off, get Gerrard back in a position where he knows well and can do a decent job for us. I'm sick to the ****ing death of this negative bull**** of Lucas and Mascherano in midfield, doesn't work. Even with wingers there is no cohesion in midfield it's like our game plan is lob it up to Torres let him either turn a defender or hold up play and then bring in kuyt, babel or stevie.

Back to 4-4-2, midfielders who can control, pass, and play team mates into space. two forwards working together, and 2 widemen hugging the touchline. I'm fed up of these draws and losses from negative tactics and lack of passion. Rafa has brought us some brilliant times that have shaped me as a person more than anything else in life but enough is enough. He's played his part at Liverpool making us a top team again now we need someone else with fresh and more accurate ways of taking us to winning the league.

                                RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE.
