    That is laughable.

Crouch was sold in July 2008. Babel signed in July 2007. What is that fat cunt's point?

I think it does go to show that there is an important perception problem going on. United spent the sort of value we spent on Babel on multiple similar gambles and one pays off and this is seen as a genius policy - it even funds itself. Yet we have to make one mistake and we are lambasted. the obvious problem being that we are expected to have players at the top level - so either we have to pay high fees or take that sort of gamble.

Teams like Spurs have improved by a route not available to us - the ability to gradually build a team/squad to compete for fourth with the assumption that doing better or well in any other competition is a bonus. They have also had secure finances to the point where they haven't had to sell to buy.

People go on about the turnover rate in our squad but without people going out we wouldn't have been able to try and improve.

        Indeed.

I guess he's trying to draw the discussion away from numbers, and look at whether the spend/income improved us. Silly way of addressing it.

But in terms of the squad quality, I think we need you to draw a graph, overlaid with net spend to see for sure.

i would love to hear the journo's stop their media bashing of LFC just as much as i would love to hear the end of "net spend" and "gross spend" !!!!!
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Don't tempt me. I'll have NY and MattShark debating the finer detail of the definition of squad quality index (SQI) before you know it.

As I've said before, the papers clearly have an agenda against us, ok we are an easy target at the moment, but no other club has to put up with anywhere near the amount of **** we get from this lot.

People don't talk about net spend because they are stuipd enought not to understand what the true meaning of net spend is.

Papers that hires that stupid journalist to write just shows how stupid it is.

Sorry if I have missed this already in the thread but 2 issues Rafa has had to deal with recently which hasnt been properly taken into account

Johnson and Aqua, even though cost abot 35m were purchased as we could get them for either minimal outlay (aqua 4m up front) or to make sure we got the money owned to us (which is a big problem to other clubs dealing with portsmouth at the moment)

What i'm saying is that i'm sure we would not have bought these two players if rafa had been given 35m cash

From what we understand the goal posts were changed at the last minute for rafa, he was promised x as a budget then he got y when he tried to complete his squad

its like going shopping for your holiday buying all the things you want then, when it came to buying your swimming trunks to complete your shopping you find you have no cash left in your bank and have to go swimming in your bike leathers for the holiday

if you knew this at the start of the summer you would have planned differently....... or planned not go on holiday at all?

got to disagree there. the rumours about signing aqua came around long before we had sold alonso ( dating back the previous summer ) which makes me think he was always a target of rafa's.

johson had been courted by the arse and chelseas when we got him so again i think these players were rafa's main targets.

the bit about being given 35mill cash, well most transfers these days are payment plan deals. you very rarely find a straight cash deal for players ( ronaldo to real was the exception but that was due to manure wanting to service some of their debt too )

You could just wear a pair of pants. There's no need to swim in bike leathers. Besides I haven't got any so I'd have to buy some - surely a pair of trunks would be cheaper.

Or you could go to a naturist beach. Problem solved (although you would need to have access to a fair amount of sunblock).
                              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I didn't think you would claim that. I still don't think its anywhere near 50/50 for reds fans regarding Rafa, its just that the anti Rafa individuals make more noise as they believe they have something worth bitching about. Polls on this forum also suggest this.
